Processing / Materials
========================
All materials make a quality impression. In particular, the new ball bearing stainless steel mounting screws with rubber put an end to the horror stories of parting Screw the old system. The camera can rotate freely without loosening the screw on the camera now.
The eyes what the stainless steel bolts are attached, purr without hakeln about Polyester strap with steel security cable, and are made of metal. To date, I've never stuck at fast pulling up the camera. The belt adjustment to the removable shoulder pads is again secured by Plastikösen and a second time by the hook and loop fasteners of the cushion. The shoulder pads are ergonomically shaped and padded enough for my shoulder. On the back there is a relatively wide adjustable Velcro, which allows you to customize the sniper to the shoulder width. Is still on the front 2 tapes at the end of each complete with metal carabiners, etc. to a compact camera take (see product photo above).
Practice
=======
Nothing beats when taking over the practice.
Fitting
Adjusting the belts should be tried before the first use at rest (!) To find the right settings for themselves. Because when first dranhängt all the equipment, the straps can be adjusted only with difficulty itself. Top it works in my experience, if someone else makes. Because of setting was supposed to hang everything so that you can find the optimal length. It can be adjusted on the chest, both the two side straps and the Velcro on the back and buckle. And then extensively test: bending, kneeling, etc. Then you realize that is very quickly if it fits or not.
And here also my first point of criticism is the same - the free dangling cameras if, for example leans forward. To me it already happened several times in the hustle and bustle that my Bodies (7D & 5DMKII) with attached glass (16-35L / 70-300L) are zusammengenallt in the middle. Also undress you should make sure, first cameras Unscrew and then pull the strap over his head. So seductively also -everything is taking off at once, and then again at hand in the trunk to the more legendary painful is it when tangled undress and meet almost 2x2kg mass again in the middle ... and trust me - that goes often faster than you can react.
Action
=======
Its purpose the Sniper outstanding. If, like me, is always on the road with 2 bodies, one has an optimal weight distribution on both shoulders. The (fast) growing the camera to your eye works fine - just as the exchange between the two sides. As it is written you should be careful when bending forward, squat or during the race. There would have some kind of similar temporary "parking brake" by means of a flexible rubber coating give, so that you can make these movements, without having to constantly hold hands to the cameras.
I think straight as supplements on holsters in order to fix the cameras each in a bag can. Gewöhnungsbedürfig likely also the limitation of arm movement that is to be at the point where else dangling arms, now dangle the cameras. I note, for example. Found that by my metal wristwatch on his left arm often times "schrabbt" the Bodies. One more reason to think about a ZUS. Halter solution.
Genial way, are the built-in shock absorber straps - especially when you're running or heavy equipment has. Speaking of heavy equipment. Another point of criticism is the fact that the belt over time sliding forward and the wide Velcro neck then "scrapes". Here probably remains the only solution via an additional waist strap to hook the back section and thus to prevent them from slipping. Otherwise, the wearing comfort even after several hours TOP! Since it can not shoulder bag, backpack, etc. keep up.
I should add that one the two belts also can separate quickly - if you just want to take a body. Simply loosen Velcro back and front Plastikgurtverschluss - done.
CONCLUSION
======
For me, currently the best solution with slight weaknesses that can resolve but in which one additional accessories such as holsters and belts (eg Think Tank News or goods) to buy.
The price is naturally salted. Therefore, you should consider this investment good.
All in all, I still forgive 5 Stars.
I hope this some food for thought from practice to have given.
UPDATE 14.5.2012
================
meanwhile the Sniper has been some time in use and I have to say that it still represents the optimal solution for me always. Added are 2 thin tank holsters with belt holding the lenses is setter camera in position - even when bending and stooping. My valuable equipment also quickly and easily disappears under a jacket.
UPDATE 03/07/2013
================
still the best solution for traveling.
There are now, however, the long time I want to stay "Klemmer hard" for the belt - the so-called Sun Sniper Activity clip.. The finally provides for not more dangling the equipment.
For me, now combined the perfect solution.
UPDATE 12/01/2015
================
Unfortunately, the metal thread is "outside" looking for a way to one of the two belts and stabbed dangerous out of the fabric. Luckily I noticed early on and suffered no injuries or damage to textiles. I have the strap from the manufacturer via email incl. Photo and complained of post get a new sent. Despite the fatigue, I'll stay with the full 5 stars, because the manufacturer has responded quickly and without discussion. I also got the newer model with better shock absorbers sent.
