The Soul Calibur series is one of the best known and best beat 'em up series in the world and especially the nearly perfect first part set new standards with the weapons-related fight and very detailed graphics and interesting characters. What I then prepared especially fun was the game mode in which you have a map of the world "was" and had to cope with various challenges, which varied over again. This Soul Calibur reached a degree of variety, of his same sought in the genre. Selibges scheme also still handle bestoch to the second part to which mainly by the class graphics. But the long-used formula gets in my opinion so slowly dents. For me it is no longer enough in all honesty, just time to get each new graphics and otherwise more or less nothing new. A new game element are the so-called "Critical KOs", but still remind me very much of the excessive and brutal Fatality moves from Mortal Kombat without violence. The moves are all beautifully staged and see exactly how the whole game very spectacular from. The shortcoming of the whole thing is that I've never done it so far in a fight, perform one of these moves, because no opponent blocks so much that the so-called "soul loss" occurs. Sogesehen is this new feature more or less useless. Another point of criticism is in my opinion the story mode. This falls short of ridiculous with 5 fights, almost no cutscenes and little story content. This is clearly not enough of Namco, since the legend of the mysterious weapons actually contains a lot of potential. The mode that probably claimed most of the player's time is the so-called "fate tower", the equivalent to the above described "map mode" from the predecessors. Man fights his way through different challenges under different conditions in order to unlock new weapons and costumes. What only extremely bothers me about this mode is the difficulty of the whole. I love challenging games where you can not just by marching in a, but what happened to me in part here is just frustrating. One fights partially per Stage 7-10 against opponents at a time, temporarily without the possibility and thus fails to incredibly exciting fights to the last opponent and then starts over again, that's just annoying. Also to be negative, I see the integration of the Star Wars characters. Especially the X-Box Exclusive character Yoda fits somehow I do not think so in the system. It is intangible, it is to make ill-conditioned and also its size is not playing itself exciting. Also I see lightsabers in this but mostly realistic held titles as inappropriate. But taken as a whole "Soul Calibur IV" better than the sum of its parts. The game system is still the fastest and most entertaining beat 'em up with these days. The characters are all playing very different and have cool weapons that are worthwhile to try out all of them. It's just a lot of fun to discharge the gripping arms duels on the screen, especially against a buddy in front of the screen. Due to the Kurzweiligkeit guarantees this exciting fights, even with rather different playing experience, but since you can achieve a lot by the simple pressing of buttons. However, therein lies my opinion, the criticism of the whole: the game system lacks mitlerweile but at depth. The remaining beat 'em up series such as "Dead or Alive", "Virtua Fighter" or especially "Street Fighter IV" have much more depth and thus bind a lot more before the screen. "Soul Calibur IV" playing time for a while and then it's up around the shelves, while the competition but can inspire much longer. Despite all that is "Soul Calibur" definitely worth the money. It's a great fighting game with gorgeous graphics and great characters, which should delight especially multiplayer friends. For longstanding connoisseurs of the series but the game is down a little disappointing as it has but overall something hoped for more change.
