The reason for my review is as follows:
Spotify offers to stream for all Premium users the possibility to 320 Kbit. The Spotify app which Onkyo has incorporated, but makes a maximum of 160 Kbit. Sorry! Onkyo Support and Spotify have confirmed this. A new firmware it is in this respect do not give the time being. Since the Onkyo is controlled via DLNA, the question is how do you send this Stream in lossless quality to the receiver. Actually not that hard, so you'd think. Here it is (was) the opposite is true. The default audio output on PC distorts the signal and not everyone has a sound card with digital output. Via Bluetooth would be a possibility, but Bluetooth has its pitfalls (disconnections, etc ...). Several problems arose, until I came across the Jamcast program. Jamcast integrates into the internal network and creates a virtual sound card, which all music that is played on PC taps and lossless passes into the network. Here the Onkyo receiver picks up the signal and can reproduce it without loss. Jamcast even write to:
"In general, Whether it be the Virtual Soundcard channel or otherwise. Jamcast is Either sending the raw, uncompressed audio (like Spotify) or the native audiodata itself. Spotify via Virtual Soundcard, or the new CD Audio plugin are Both Completely lossless to the receiver.
You can verify this via JAMCAST.LOG, Which has moved to C: \ Program Data \ Jamcast \ logiles. Any conversion or transcoding is Noted there, you can know for sure what is being sent to the device for any request Jamcast handles. "
Since I was a long time dealt with this problem, I wanted to let everyone who bought the Onkyo know this. You can hear every sound if a significant difference to the integrated Spotify app. Hope I could help one or the other customers it! :)
