Built-in PC
I have the SSD installed in an Aldi PC (Medion Akoya P5250D September 2014) with Windows 8.1. A mounting frame is available. The 4 mounting screws are missing, which I still have the old PC. However, they go very stiff to be screwed. I did not dare to tighten the screws properly. But it keeps that way. The cable to the PC power supply is available. The SATA cable is missing, I have to buy it to me. Otherwise, the installation is easy.
Cloning of Windows partition C: \
But now needs to Windows 8.1 from the existing hard drive to move to the SSD. This hard drive is to remain in the PC.
To copy the program "NTI Echo" is enmpfohlen and provided free for download from Toshiba (only for SSD from Toshiba).
After installing the program does not start but. Research results on the Internet: The firmly installed in the PC card reader is empty and therefore interfere. I've put into it any appropriate memory card. Now NTI Echo starts actually. The only adjustment is the source partition (C: \) and the size of the target partition. The program shuts down the PC and copy the data in approximately 20 minutes. Then the PC must be shut down. There is no more information about how to proceed.
After restarting Windows reports problems but cleaned up automatically. Result: The start is from the old partition C: \. The SSD Windows has shut down for safety's sake. Windows shut down again, transfer, power switch, reduce side panel, pull SATA cable of SSD and SATA cables from the hard disk to reposition the SSD. Now Windows starts actually from the SSD.
But the old hard disk to be yes still used. So shut down Windows again, transfer, power switch, reduce side part that stuck now free SATA cable to the hard disk. Windows will restart from the SSD, but now the hard disk is shut down for signature conflict with the SSD. The drive letters are gone.
After prolonged fumbling with Disk Management in Windows 8.1 and the now installed freeware "Aomei Partition Assistant Standard Edition" I can use the hard disk running off again. I can not say whether there is for an easier way.
Conclusion: buy and install SSD, but stay away from "NTI Echo". On the internet I have several indications found that the cloning of partition C: \ is any problem with the freeware "Aomei Partition Assistant Standard Edition" or even of EASEUS.
