:( Steering and force feedback, review for Win 8.1 - 64 bit

WRC 4 is with me on a Windows 8.1 - 64-bit system, Intel i7-4820K 3.9 GHz, 16 GB PC3 12800 DDR3 RAM and an AMD R9 280X graphics card (1100 MHz slightly overclocked) on 55 inch TV with 60 Hz 1920 * 1080 resolution in all graphics settings to stop completely butterweich without any stuttering with DirectX 9 displayed.

ME should, if not, must be fit and available for use by an FFB wheel a racing game / Rally. Is promoted by the manufacturer, among other things WRC4 for the steering wheel Logitech G27 and Fanatec some models (including Clubsport Pedals and CSR etc.).

Installation is straightforward and the program start is not a problem. The graphics are oriented on DirectX 9. Something antiquarian and at times of DirectX 12 now not quite up to par. Overall, the program runs even at the highest setting on the above computer easily, without jerking or twitching.

Basically, the program is intended not bad. The routes are sometimes just due to the many curves and hairpin bends very demanding. Now we come to talk about the very big shortcoming.

Initially, I traveled with a Logitech G27 steering wheel the rally routes. With G27 is a lot of effort in the settings on the Logitech Profiler thus a steerable game reach. However, the Force Feedback is an absolute tragedy. Without specially tailored FFB modifications of nogripracing.com the entire FFB is spongy and immature. Then the steering system toward Fanatec CSW V2 was rebuilt. In all games, a considerably better and more realistic driving with crisp and very good FFB behavior. But in WRC4 wants with this Combi pay virtually no joy. To make matters worse, that at Fanatec hardware drivers in the setting combined pedals must be set. Unfortunately, this is a programming technique from the Stone Age to the game controller or pedals. It simply remains vague and imprecise.

Summary:

Beautiful approach, but the steering wheel support, despite extra patch to unconvincing by the manufacturer. 1 star away. The FFB is independent of the steering wheels used in comparison to other Rally- / racing games sad. 2 star deduction. Therefore, unfortunately only 3 stars at wheel use.
