I had bought the mid-Noughties times a vicious 5.1 system (Concept E Magnum), and was not really impressed. First, for me film use does not really matter, on the other hand the enormous impact sound inclination of the subwoofer has annoyed me.
That's why I was long the doubt whether the devil boxes could sell my current bookshelf speakers, or if the bass is me but turn out to Devil -for everyone knows, strong.
Application:
Listening to music deliberately. I sit down like the evening and hear by the chair for a whole album. For everyday sound, you can be honest, there are good and simple shelf speakers.
Transport:
The boxes arrived quickly and well on packed. The carton (as printed 25kg) can be if you force something easy to move, and the boxes are in well padded. Innendrin 4 styrofoam padding, and the box with fabric mesh in a fabric bag. My tip: Open carton, carefully put aside, one of the two styrofoam halves rausziehen, and then lift the bag using the box while pushing away the carton. Who is wise, that does on a carpet.
According to box one should keep the packaging during the warranty period - whether I 2 huge cartons really imagine the age of 12 the basement, I doubt!
Structure:
Placing boxes, cable slide back into the lower of the two terminals (of bi-wiring can grow what you want, but is just as bi-amping possible).
It is noticeable that it is very difficult, even crouching to see in front of the holes. So briefly laid before the box, dressed, Box again moved into position and fired up the amp.
First Impression:
Through the efficiency of 87dB / m more than the devil of times mentioned 20 watts should stand the amplifier already. My 70 watt amplifier makes at about 15% capacity low volume.
Box very bassy, I have first 15cm wide constructed away from the wall. The bass through the amplifier to approximately half of the adjustment is reduced, and then in the hearing test.
Hearing test (everything unless otherwise marked as 320kbit MP3):
The Bianca Story- Crescendo & Casino makes Lonely
The bass is now transferred as noticeable sound, but no more than structure-borne noise. The voice dissolves wonderful from the instruments, compared to small bookshelf speakers the size is manifested in a significantly better sense of space.
In some places you can even the finger slides on the guitar, which was not audible on my headphones before notice.
Warmer, more melodic overall impression
Adele- Set Fire To The Rain
The hearing impression confirmed further. The introductory piano is insanely well resolved and clearly over. Adele's voice is spatially from, you make wise closing of the neck at the end of a tone sets new nuances in the song.
The insertion Bass comes Dominant over - without bass EQ the box'd probably drive you crazy, but he gives the song the necessary drama. Who performs here as a purist, and would like to use any EQ, will probably schwertun on bass.
Pantha Du Prince - Eisbaden & Photon (LP!)
Here clearly the strength of the devil boxes. The very low sounds waft through the room just so, while the high bells come in crystal clear and impressive. You can tell the devil to the contemporary musical tastes clearly zuspielt with the bass-heavy design.
Goldfish - Get Busy Living
This shows the beginning of the first weakness of the box: the still dominated by higher tones track is rather dull over, not as crystal clear as transferred with my small shelf speaker. But for a driving bass, which is only now apparent.
However, once Emily gets going with the refrain (Do you wanna live like you already lived, or do you wanna get busy living?) Is quickly forgotten, and here, too, puts a smile.
Conclusion:
Devil builds a suitable box for me, and the price seems to me to be fair. I had quite good bookshelf speakers, in this case a development in space wealth and some definition is mainly present. Who likes to have a lot of bass, is happy with this box. And who wants to have a good box just for the price, can help with an EQ at a really decent result.
Devil has convinced me this time!
1 star deduction is available for the fiddly connection and the (admittedly expected) Basslastigkeit.
