Hey, I became the proud owner of Y50. Now I have a little time to spend with the laptop and am very satisfied. On the pro side is definitely the features that can be beaten at this price level only by Clevo laptops. My system takes about 8-9 seconds to operation of the Power buttons until Firefox is completely ready. (This is due partly to Win 8.1, partly on the SSD) The design is very chic, it is decently maintained, with an aggressive-red glowing keyboard that is switched off, however, if you bring it to a business meeting or to the university, etc. The cooling of the notebook seems to me for the installed hardware and the extremely thin chassis very well, so far I have measured under load for the CPU as a maximum 71 ° C and the GPU 60 ° C. While browsing and text editing the CPU is (+/- 3 ° C) at 50 ° C. The case is for prolonged periods of play in the top left (about where the JBL logo is) a little warmer, but nothing ominous. The sound is definitely better than my previous laptops, but beats a decent sound system, the built-in speakers by far. The keyboard of the laptop is fantastic. I think it is very pleasant to her typing. Only the fact that the num pad is right next to the Enter key, I find a bit annoying. That is because I previously had a 16 "notebook, where the distance between num pad and Enter button I liked very much to blindly find quickly the Enter key.
Now we come to the Contra points: The touchpad for mouse is grottig. I have a feeling that it's not 100% correct sitting, because it is a bit strange with light pressure. The precision also leaves something to be, especially since you often slightly moving the mouse if you want to click. The housing is a fingerprint magnet. I took the laptop once from the table, and I already had my full handprint on the metal. I think that's a pity, but is probably a disadvantage which brings a nice metal case with him.
On the Internet you read of the miserable displays what a real porblem seems. Lenovo installed various display panels in Y50 with FHD, namely the Chi Mei, which is to be real weak, and the AUO screen, which should be acceptable at least. I have the AUO display and can not complain. The matte display is getting used to I (only Glossy had been) but personally find it quite okay.
The one point I pulled off because the mouse pad and the various display panels do not comply with the fairly solid impression of the laptop. Otherwise, I am so far a very happy owner of this notebook
