The case is quite simply decorated, but well made; exactly my cup of tea. Nothing is loose, no gaps or else what shortcomings. Attempting to unpack, connect to your PC and away you go. An eventual partitioning is done quickly via the System Tools. Somewhat negative I feel that quite bulky power supply, which it occupies a lot of space on the power strip.
Installed as a hard drive is a WD15EADS, so a plate of the 'Green' series, which runs generally with very quiet running 5400rpm. The disk in the external housing has again exceeded my expectations quite a bit. In operation it is virtually silent and the vibrations are not transmitted or imperceptible to the lying surface, so that thereby no disturbing noises. The heat development will be also limited. The plastic housing is warmed slightly in operation after some time, but nothing more. That reminds me here in the external area, however, the references are missing, I can make no real judgment about it.
Data throughput on the PC is just usual USB ... 24-25mb / s to reach an average of the transfer by Tera Copy; Windows own routine differs here rather slightly downwards.
At WD Live to connect the machine quickly identified and has actually no performance problems - but I had to connect the lateral USB1 as the rear USB2 regular stuttering were noted; why that was exactly, I can not say. The device automatically turns on when activating the Live and switched off just after a short time even when the Live is turned off. Draw a separate plug is therefore not necessary. When I noticed it right, the hard drive is shut down after a certain time also, should not live access them. According to then take the re-access 3-4 seconds. Through the mentioned low operating noise and low vibration, the plate even with very quiet scenes absolutely imperceptible. In addition, self-direct it must be in the room, so that one perceives it absolutely quiet.
All in all, a perfect mass storage. Whether you want to use this for the media player or as a backup disk for the PC does not really matter for both purposes equally well suited.
