Since I have no Gigabit Ethernet, and in the end everything runs anyway on the internet mostly, this unit was just right.
I have found nowhere else software for all Windows operating systems incl. The server versions with 64 bit and Mac OS support. All virtualization systems such as VMware, Hyper-V and co. support - what more could you want?
The software is functional and simple, self-explanatory and runs with me perfectly on a 64bit Windows 7, it is with nice Gimmiks as "Request link" or automatic connection of printers provided.
On the manufacturing side you will also find a script-based version and a version of the software as a service. Who needs it here is thus also well equipped.
I use the SX-DS-3000U1 to an expensive to a 3D CAT software belonging dongle to be kept safe in the network enclosure. Finally, I always know where the dongle is and should make me not having to worry that the dongle is lost or me simply cancels the USB port of my notebook during transport.
Move the dongle via VPN can also be reached. The device has only a port, but can be a pinch USB Hub
expand. With up to 4 devices tested: works just fine. It can also be then connected from different computers at different USB devices. Who wants to have more ports directly on it, you can also just buy the a larger version of SX-3000GB device or SX-DS-4000U2. For me, a port was but adequate.

The device itself has a simple, black housing. The power supply unit is plugged directly into the outlet, between without additional cable. Power consumption is 3 watts plus what need the USB device.
