An S95 does not have this problem, also provides less light nor brilliant pictures, but the focal length begins at 28mm and it comes slowly in the years. A Sony RX 100 / II begins only at 28 mm and is also expensive.
Since it has been Canon failed to present an at least evenly matched compact successor (S100,110,120 are not bad, but no alternative, G Series also has the scratch problem, not 24mm and is too bulky), I signed up for the GM 1 decided and was not disappointed.
The han is good despite great hands. It fits perfectly in my Gürtelltasche (with two spare batteries = MUST). Operation via the touch panel is used to but if you have the matter of exposure area, focus point and shutter time on it, it's big fun - and in an absolutely rapid pace.
But I am particularly fascinated by the image quality. Really great colors (AWB), no white spots burned by Highlight Correction (an absolute shortcoming with compact from Canon!) And tack-sharp images with this tiny push.
Cropping also works fine and the backgrounds look while out nice and even.
The minimum shutter speed of 1/16000 sec is awesome - even in bright light and no filter I can always use the Offeblende - a dream!
20 cm Focus border are just as adequate for close-ups.
The flash can bend manually, thereby produces beautiful effects. The fact that the shutter speed is reduced to 1/50 sec, will be a problem if you want to flash-moving objects, but I normally do not do.
Actually I need the flash does not work because you can put safely on Auto ISO and if you also enter a limit of ISO 3200, are the differences in the details, if at all, only at full resolution and look closer to see. Even ISO 6400 delivers absolutely still useful results that are better than many DSLRs.
This is absolutely amazing.
If it again grabs me fever and I need different lenses is the variety of good, small, lightweight Panasonic and Olympus good size and if at some point a speck of dust lands on the sensor, which is also not a problem.
Conclusion - a competent, smaller, lighter, always there-jester for little Öre with potential for professional Schreck - so it should be!
