super concept - but with software bugs

+ Concept:
To relocate the BT receiver, electronics and battery in the neck is a super concept! It does not bother, and the unit / weight is absolutely not to notice. Both with T-shirt and a shirt, it can be worn comfortably. Really compelling.

+ Sound quality:
I find excellent. To my cable tied 40 Senheiser headphones I can not tell the difference. And I was so far always assumed a greatly reduced sound quality on BT.

+ Delay of music:
The delay caused by the radio transmission is, contrary to my expectations, so low that it is readily possible with the Sony look SBH80 videos. Delaying the language about the pictures is subjective undetectable in movies.

o Controls:
The buttons are easily accessible and provide the desired functionality. However, they do not have nice pressure point and must be felt, as they are outside the field of view.

- Multipoint regions:
There is limited support multipoint (simultaneous connection to multiple devices).
If you switch the SBH80 a, it will automatically connect only to the last paired device. On the second unit you have to initiate the connection manually.
During my extensive testing Multipoint was explicitly activated (manual). Also a reset brought no improvement. This behavior has been confirmed to me by phone after internal consultation from the Sony support of two employees.
If two devices have been used on a regular basis this is very time-consuming and annoying. With a 80 product which is advertised with Multipoint, you should expect this functionality.

- Microphone quality with telephone calls:
Consistently, I have received the feedback in every conversation that it is the opposite almost impossible to understand me.
It seems the noise reduction to be malfunctioning. In the car or on a street, the background noise is very strong audible. The worst part is that the headset tries to eliminate this noise and thus parts of the spoken cuts. The Opposite hears only a abgeharkte words. Since it does not help to keep one of the microphones closer to the mouth.
For me, this is indeed the case SBH80 not usable in everyday life as a phone headset. Since even plays the favorable Plantronics M55 30 in a completely different league. The M55 copes same situations without problems and absolutely satisfactory.

- Switching off during operation:
Unfortunately, the headset switches irregularly (from about 30 minutes playing time) simply when listening to music from. A reset does not help.
This error is also reported by other users in the Sony Support Forum (Talk Sony Mobile com). A solution is not in sight. Also exchanged devices have this malfunction.

- Software updates are not possible:
I hoped the multipoint Bug and the shutdown bug would corrected corrected as quickly as possible by a firmware update of the headset.
Unfortunately, that hope has evaporated after a Sony employee in Sony wrote Support Forum: "SBH80 is not supported by SUS and has no software update capabilities." So it will probably be no updates and the bugs persist. This annoys very, since the smaller the headset SBH series besitzten a firmware update functionality.

Recommendation:
When to use good "ear BT Headset". Bottom line, the device is good for music / movie hear appropriate when it is mainly used only with a mobile phone / PC.
