I use the notebook under Linux (Ubuntu 14.10), which runs without problems. Although the touch screen is thus "only" a mouse-replacement (to use it as a tray, one would have a few more utilities install). The supplied Windows 8.1 has however - be served Aspire V5-573G-54208G50akk immediately liquid as opposed to a much more potent Acer, Lenovo also because not so many senseless airs bloatware that nobody needs and makes the computer unusable.
From an i3 Notebook with "only" 4GB RAM and without SSD can be no high-performance computer games expected but overall everything is going very well and I would have expected support. Actually I wanted to retrofit an SSD and more memory, but it also runs so everything very fluently (and I'm no games), so I only times so leave the device as it is.
The "Umklapp function" is not bad to look at, for example, films or working with external wireless keyboard and mouse as a desktop replacement.
The pity is that only a USB3.0 connection is available (as well as two USB 2.0) and the optical drive is missing (perhaps also not a disadvantage, because the sensitive optical drives are usually the first defective part on a notebook and because they are less and less needs and externally can connect via USB, I miss not).
For the 399, which you have paid the Cyber-Monday for a real bargain and a solid everyday notebook. Even the "normal price" (499) is still a fair offer in my eyes.
EDIT 30.12.2014:
Meanwhile, I have a SSD (SSD 256GB Transcend SSD370 internal (6.4 cm (2.5 inches), SATA III MLC)) retrofitted and 16GB Memory (2x8GB DDR3-1600 Crucial kit S0DIMM CL11). Both runs perfectly, the computer is really fun (although he was not exactly slow advance). The installation itself is not a problem, only the keyboard connector cable was a bit fiddly to install again, so: best well in advance.
EDIT 01/10/2014:
After a few weeks use, I'm still very happy, but I would like to add my review to the effect that the battery life of 3-4 hours for the operation is on the way already quite short. I run the machine at home and I have (for 25) even ordered a second AC adapter, so that I in the two areas where I most use a power supply to handle.
