In the first third of it comes to drawing, which also repeatedly explained the anatomy of cats and thus a realistic, correct drawing is sought. Practical tips, such as to start with the topline, head and ears of the moving cat, help the first sketch. Numerous colorful examples in various media (charcoal, pencil, Conté, ink, etc.) accompany the text, it will be shown both sketchy and very realistic images.
The greater part of the book deals with the watercolor painting, starting with basic as the required materials, colors and blending the colors, the addition of water etc .. one finds for example the interesting note, a lively black from Sepia, ultramarine and Sienna burned to mix. The watercolor paintings are beautiful and the spectrum ranges here again from sketchy to realistically and in detail. You see cats in portrait, the whole cat's body, but also several cats in the garden or a cat with her cubs.
I think the book is suitable for beginners, although no step by step instructions can be found on individual images. However, it is explained in detail what it takes and you get a lot of good, basic advice, such as the estimation of proportions with the pencil, create shades (while drawing), composition of images, etc .. Also, advanced painting cat lovers are bound to find good suggestions in the numerous images.
And: the instructions can be transmitted naturally to many other objects, so you do not always have to just paint and draw cats.
