Looking at the technical data is based on notice that the HTC Desire has 500 quite well stocked. 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 8 MP camera and Beats Audio.
Is a bit annoying that there is only 4GB of internal memory, which can be 3GB occupied by the system. But thanks to micro SD slot, this is not the biggest problem.

Processing:
I must say, as I have held for the first time in the hands of the unit, I was pleasantly surprised.
It feels despite polycarbonate housing to very valuable and stable. Everything is tight and nothing creaks.
Only on top of the housing gaps can be identified. The reason is that one quasi intercalates the phone in the back. I had in mind only if all this is so stable, but so far it sits really bombproof.
Display:
Here I was concerned at first that in my opinion at 480 * 800 pixels were entitled. Because I had frequently not at all convinced by the Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini in hand and since I was the display.
Sure, I'm an iPhone used, since one is anyway a bit spoiled.
But I must also say here, me the Desire 500 has really positively surprised. It does not serve up the HTC One or similar high-end smartphones. But the S3 Mini but a clear difference can be seen.
The colors are natural, you can see how I find no dead pixels. Even when zooming of web pages, it can still be read pleasant.
It has been here for about 230 not Full HD, that's clear. But for the price range, I find the screen tip.
Battery performance:
The problem with many smartphones.
In normal use, to get loose during the day.
Normal use means to me:
- WhatsApp
- Read News
- 2-3 calls per 5 min
- Listen to music the way to work, at about 30 minutes drive..
Meanwhile, the battery has a few charging cycles behind it levels off at just 1-2 days.
The advantage of the Desire 500 is that you can change the battery.
Performance:
Quad-core is always a nice selling point. Here it does not deliver what it promises.
This is not to be negative. So far I have not found any major problems and if you have when wiping through the menu or open an app no problem with the fact that it takes a second longer time or it times jerky here and there shortly.
Overall, however, it is more than acceptable for a device in the price range. If you want high-end, are also usually the 200-300 more.
Camera:
So far as many photos have not yet been made on the machine. But the former are entirely satisfactory. Absolutely sharp images both outside as well as inside. Even in dark areas look sharp and detailed but sometimes a bit too dark. Despite everything, I was the camera but surprised. I would even argue that the camera from the Desire 500 better pictures than by the HTC One or One mini. I was tested in a direct comparison.
The camera software offers many functions and settings. Here, however, not all has been tried. But like so far tested.
Other:
To Beats Audio quality I can not say anything yet, simply because I have not tested it. But here it is said that the function becomes available only through connected headphones and does not have the internal speaker.
As noted above, the internal memory of 4GB is limited. Shall remain narrowly 1GB leisure. The other 3 GB are used by the system.
But fortunately it has worked that one can Apps on the micro SD card storage and execution. Whether that works with all apps, I do not know. But in the previously installed it works.
Conclusion:
Overall, the HTC Desire 500 a successful middle-class smartphone. For a little over 200 you get here a good workmanship, a super camera, but surprisingly good display and a hitherto quite smoothly running system. Clear here and there is even a juddering to hear, but the performance is overall okay.
One has to just run always bear in mind that one is not dealing with a high-end smartphone.
But the S3 or S4 mini, it is a successful alternative.
Want to use for people who call, SMS or WhatsApp, listen to music and play a game here and there, it's a really great option device.
My girlfriend has been very pleased and I am surprised really positively.
