Super universal but not Frustfrei.

I was the instrument heavily inspired due to its versatility. The possibilities are indeed described here already extensively. Which reminds me of the difference between hotspot and repeater mode is not entirely clear. The signal my Fritz box I could not in the repeater mode "repeaten" but in hotspot mode properly.
The device, however, is certainly not entirely Frustfrei in its operation and could propel someone quickly without rudimentary IT or network knowledge to the madness - just go without a laptop with cables.
For power consumption must be said: The stated 2000mAh power consumption required is not certainly. I have it operable with a 1000mAh mobile power supply - also with UMTS stick.
Interestingly, the low power consumption is in fact, if you want to run it with a battery:
With my 5 year old mobile phone charging battery (indicated with 3000 mAh, but my Nexus 4 can not even more 50% load) I have long 6.5H in hotspot mode my Fritzbox "repeaten" leave the unit and have about the Internet surfing.
With inserted UMTS stick (Huawei E176) I came to only about 3 hours, but where this was not entirely online in time. Ie with UMTS stick the device requires more power, of course.

Frustration could be adjusted, who without a laptop - would like to use while traveling in various modes, the device, as can be some mode-switching done via network cable only sure -. Only with smartphone or tablet. Otherwise, it may happen that the WLAN has stopped responding and you can not go any further without pressing the reset / Factory Settings button. As set in the factory settings, neither a unique admin password for the configuration user interface is still the WLAN is encrypted (!) Would have to adjust the after each reset for safety's sake all over again.
I have resorted to me with this:
I have all 3 occurring (for me) modes set an admin password and WPA encryption of Wi-Fi's and the respective configuration afterwards. Saved. This I then transferred to the Smarthone / Tablet with whom I typically go and use the Asus part.
Should I therefore use the device on the go and want to change the mode and I come via WLAN it no longer, I can reset it to factory settings (button on the bottom), then connect via WLAN and the respective configuration file simply by browser interface from your smartphone Upload and the device is ready for use in 1 minute. And it's so immediate safe with Admin password and WPA encryption.
The procedure with the config files is certainly unique test and preparation expenses (before the trip), but then saves a lot of frustration if you Rumtipperei and it then takes time.

By the way: The network cable is a nice little ribbon cables - ideal when traveling - and the micro-USB cable is a Y-cable with 2 USB connectors on the "PC-side" (as with many USB hard disks, only halt with Micro-USB connector). As mentioned above, it also works with normal smartphone power supplies with micro USB connector (sorry Apple) that the baggage might again reduced.
