Bought to be permanently lit on an iMac mid 2011, the record blends perfectly near the foot of the Mac, the cable is long enough without being too much. Access is performing and silence is golden!
In short a great buy for an external drive immediately recognized on my Mac and do not take up space on my desk.
I do not use the software solution therefore not delivered an opinion on it.
