This small and very portable and discrete converter does not suffer any of these drawbacks provided your receiver also supports APT-X. The price is extremely attractive and unique at the moment. Bonus for audiophiles, it's actually APTX / LL, ie "low latency". It is noteworthy, as a latency from 160 ms (APT-X) to 32 ms (APTX / LL), is significant.
After unpacking, the unit appears well built, with a clever guidance system and audio cable with a clear notice, complete and well organized. The interface is well thought out and the unique multi-function tool is actually usable. Note that your headset is not dappairage request a different code "0000", "1234" or "8888". If this is the case, the pairing will not happen.
Note that my headset Samsung SH-650 does not support the APT-X offers sound quality but already usable A2DP. -already Quite low latency to 200 ms-if it is bearable for music outside monitoring, must be compensated for the video. My new headset APT-X (without LL) should be a little better but 160ms much better audio definition. I expect to see.
One of the interests of the APT-X is that it can send signals already encoded as is, without further transcoding. This device obviously not provide this functionality and if you plug it into the audio from a PC or other compressed music player output, for example an older iPod, you do not cut the recompression. This is the limit of this unit compared to USB bluetooth transmitters but it is precisely its purpose: it is a converter for those who do not. I would say to read already compressed files, it is not the best solution. The headphone output of your HIFI, for cons, it will do wonders.
I found that it had carefully balance the level of the signal to send to the converter: the saturation is quickly reached with the headphone output of my powered speakers and also with audio output from the integrated Realtek chipset in PC motherboard . Bluetooth audio level must be adjusted carefully: too loud, the noise inherent in the signal transmitted by radio becomes excessive; too low and it becomes unusable returns to the saturation field. The one in the other, with both applications, I still managed to get a strong signal, not saturated with an acceptable level of noise background, especially with a good quality helmet. Oddly, replace the headset of my Samsung SBH-650 with a V6 Sony cut the breath of 20db! a sound engineer will certainly have a hypothesis explaining this oddity (or bizarritude to speak Ségolène).
My intention is to send a stereo pair for my RME card, to be able to control different mixing at concerts, when I have to isolate myself sound of the front and that I can have no strings attached. The latency of 160 ms promised is still excessive but I do not despair for giving me one of these days a helmet APTX / LL. I will try to postpone my mixing experience. I guess the bluetooth is always forbidden city in the small world of engi-sound and it can make jump; ca is still worth a shot to try and it was I myself who sticks!
In summary, a very good buy for me at a very small price for lots of applications and easy entry into the world of audio wireless APT-X.
