"Aubert sings Houellebecq - The vicinity of the void" - a title as a program without misleading advertising - is an amazing album, produced, sometimes hitting, always succeeded. It includes style, immediately recognizable by Jean-Louis Aubert and power formulas Houellebecq, coupled with obvious harmony. Given the sometimes dizzying text by the poet, Aubert brings a lightness and form manages to highlight the particular form of optimism, tinged with irony, that Houellebecq likes to hide so well.
A few pieces stand out: first "Side B", then "Isolation", "When will", "The Possibility of an Island" or "The second secret." However, the 16 tracks on the album are all claim a remarkable and real "presence." The limited edition of the album is itself a pretty nice object, with the recovery of all texts, some written notes and especially tasty email exchanges between Aubert and Houellebecq (May 2013-January 2014) that explain better than words the approach initially quite fortuitous, followed by the two artists.
