I set this goal on a D600 and did my basic goal.
I have not yet had to suffer deemed high geometric deformations on this objective but I know at worst, I can always correct in software. However, the couple 28-300 + D600 has barely at all chromatic aberration in case of exit. The software correction of the case is certainly a lot to do but this result is, in my opinion, more important than the geometric deformation, annoying only on very specific shots.
On the first pictures taken, I have no criticism to make of image quality: sharpness is obviously not that of a fixed focal-quality (but my point of comparison is my 105mm macro nikkor very dive). Images are output still very clean the device. And I must say that the 24-megapixel D600 is expressed quite honorably with this goal.
In short, this goal has what it takes to become a Swiss Army knife permanently mounted on the casing. Its only drawback noticeable when it comes out of its box is its imposing weight that will transform photo output back into weight training session. This is a great product but it must be well aware of this aspect before launching with.
