For me, the DS414 performs the following tasks:
- DLNA media server
- File Server
- Backup servers for the external office via BTSync
- Own Clound
Backups run over time backup to an external USB hard drive.
I have 4x2 GB HDD's installed, usable are then about 6 GB, a disk is redundant. I also tested a drive to expand and install a new again, the raid is prepared without problems again (of course takes some time 24h).
I am very satisfied so far, the desired objects are achieved with significantly less administration and installation work carried out as to my two WHS.
Access to the data is also nice fix.
Toll it if you could also purchase the operating system of Synology separately for foreign hardware because the hardware of my two WHS actually OK was (and is) would.
Would I buy again from today's perspective.
