As a professional illustrator, I work with tablets every day and used to date the Intuos 3, which nevertheless increasingly teething developed under Windows 7 and threatened with failure. Therefore, I opted for a new one. Unfortunately, the tablet meets my needs not fully, partly there arge deterioration to its predecessor. I can not completely rule out that the problems go beyond the configuration of my computer, will nevertheless dwell on it at this point.

The arrangement of the keys was first unfamiliar to me, and works its way, now after a month and not as comfortable as with the 3 Series. The reason is that the keys are arranged downwards, and they - unlike before - does not have all the buttons on a hand, which makes it harder for me to quickly find the key I need just.
It should also be mentioned that the nibs wear out much more quickly than before, which is due to the rougher surface. The 3 I spent three years not even one, here is a tip after a month already much more pissed than before. Nor can the surface does not simply replace itself, but must be carried out in case of damage by the manufacturer. How they will develop their cost situation remains to be seen. It may well be that the surface is scratch-resistant, but not me so far appear to be so.

The real problems begin then but only with the hardware and software. The USB interface As reported in other forums again built very shaky, but only in this way becomes a problem that the connector should not be overly permanently installed, and therefore tends to break quickly. Why I went on to only on a surface to be lying. The wireless function is also impractical for me as for loading the cable and must be unplugged. Furthermore, the wireless mode for me but has become completely useless, because the driver forgot all settings once the tablet is powered by this. This problem can be out of the way as long as you, the function is not used, but the fun begins unfortunately only on.

I have therefore mainly bought a new tablet, because the driver with a Intuos 3, under Win7 happy times tended to be not loaded properly, but what only now and then occurred, but could be very annoying. The result was that the tablet did not respond and the services of Wacom had to be restarted in order to resolve the issue. The reason for this seems to lie in the rights management when the driver try to access files that they should not have access. Before anyone complains about Windows at this point, the cause in my opinion in this case is sloppy programming on the part of the manufacturer, because otherwise I can not explain the other problems.

The Wacom Intuos 5 (as it is also called System Internal) / per tendency with me at every system startup to the driver obviously did not properly load, which results in that the pen hangs regularly short. The problem can be solved by restarting the services. But as this now always happens, it is very annoying.
Moreover, it happened now several times that hangs the tablet per se, rather, in which the pen does not respond, the services need to be restarted again, or the buttons on the tablet does not react, and it only does it help all-new one and unplug.
The exact causes I do not know, unfortunately, and can get also from Wacom's no. A complete reinstallation of drivers (delete the drivers, manually remove all fragments and system settings for this) did nothing. Currently the most current drivers are installed.

Everyone who thinks about buying a Wacom Tablets should be aware of the potential problems in the clear. I had the choice, it would be a Intuos 3 again because me they appear high on the quality than the 5 Series.
The change of surface and introduction of the touch function for all tablets seems to be only in the sense of maximum monetization to reduce the life of the tablets.
