The stick is as described by previous speakers, delivered's in a metal box with all accessories including two CD. The box is of course very convenient for storing of all accessories. I was pleased when I found a manual in paper format and also in German.
In contrast to the simple installation of the Cinergy sticks to the installation and use of the TerraTec H5 proved true adventure trip. But still my Vorneweg System: 2.0GHz AMD Prozesser, 2GB of RAM, Windows XP Professionel SP3 (32-bit); Monitor LG W 3261 V.
Finding out on which of the two CD's containing the driver, was still relatively easy. However, the supplied software "Home Cinema" did not want to just run. The program kept crashing or freezing on the screen, analog TV channels I could not even looking and the remote control did not work either. After the umpteenth uninstall and install I finally came out the brilliant idea for an update of drivers and software to look and found one. And now everything is actually working. No more crashes and the remote control works. A small restriction there is. On my machine, the driver will only be fully charged when the TerraTec H5 infected already at startup (boot time) in the USB port. I put him only after the system start to the USB port of the drive is recognized, Home Cinema also works properly by pressing a button, but the remote control does not respond.
With Home Cinema version 6:14:00 I could now far everything come to life (except for the above-mentioned small thing) and the program crashes to an end. The beta version of 6:15:00 I have not tried it yet.
Whether this is a problem of the power supply or the driver, I have not yet figured out.
The attached manual in paper form provides information on the following topics: Installation; Scan DVB-T, DVB-C and analogue TV; Creating and setting up favorite channel lists; How do I set the location for shooting. Described is also how to switch keyboard. That's it for now. No Notes on timer recording or EPG, let alone on the functioning of the remote control.
However, there is a detailed manual in PDF format on a CD'S. This then includes everything you need to know. All shortcuts to reach Picture in Picture function, timer programming and also as what you are using the remote control is much more
The tuning took on my computer with DVB-T, DVB-C and analogue TV about the same time and takes some time to complete. A search about 8 - 10 min. The fine search takes longer ensprechend.
DVB-T is working properly, good picture .; 33 functioning freely receivable stations found (Berlin area). Some channels are still missing. Become even a scan of frequency band start with a shorter pitch. Then lasts somewhat longer.
DVB-C works fine, also good picture; 17 free to air and encrypted channels not found.
Analogue TV works fine, image is logically worse than DVB-T and C; about the fine search (searching by frequency band), all stations were then found that I receive with the TV.
The recording programs is not a problem and is working properly. Preferably, I put my computer into hibernation, because the standby mode requires more power. Miraculously, the computer is awakens the computer from sleep and depending on how you made the programming, he then moves either down or goes back into hibernation.
Recordings from the VCR I have not tried it yet in the short time available. If necessary, I will complete this review yet.
Conclusion: The TerraTec H5 is highly recommended and my initial ambitions to return the stick again, I have discarded. Because after I was able to bring the full functionality of the life, I am now hooked.
I take a star off because the drive with absolutely outdated software is delivered and is not even offered in this version Analog TV for tuning, let alone external analog devices are detected (video / DVD recorders), although the Terratec H5 for all adapted.
