1. The packaging
The packaging of the LG G2 is visually attractive, but also not outstanding, visual highlight. On top defies proud model name "G2" and the top of the manufacturers with the LG logo and the slogan "Life's Good". On the pages up, down, left, right there is nothing erwähenswertes. On the bottom of the package the most important features are again listed. The packaging itself is made of sturdy cardboard.
2. The contents
When you open the package of G2, immediately stabs the smartphone in the eye, which is very well protected by numerous protectors on the top and bottom and at the edges. Under the unit, the Micro-USB cable is for charging the G2 or to connect between computers, televisions, etc. In addition is the USB Travel Adapter to the district court on the charge socket can. In addition, optically high-quality headset in-ear headphones are attached, which I have not tried because I definitely prefer OverEar headphones because there simply comes across more bass. But according to recessions by my predecessors, the supplied headphones are designed to provide not too great sound as easy to come off too little bass. In addition, still in its packaging a small pin with G2 logo, which is used to open the SIM card slot on the left side of the device. This pin so you should, if possible, not lose. A quick guide for the G2 can also be found. A detailed instruction manual you can indeed download or print for free with LG on the Internet, but I think that this is not necessary, as well as tech-savvy people like the elderly who are no problems with the operation of the G2.
3. The optics
Visually, the G2 an average, yet high-quality impression. The main reason is, of course, the 5.2-inch screen, which takes up almost the entire front page. Below the display is enthroned the silver LG logo is located above the display only the speaker phone, the 2-megapixel front camera and the motion sensor. The distance between the outer edge of the display and housing measures just two millimeters, one could almost believe that the display is seamlessly merged with the housing. This is visually really very appealing. On both sides of the G2 you miss probably known by other manufacturers on / off button and the volume buttons. These are the G2 world first wandered to the back ("RearKey"). Initially, the effect might be confusing, but after a short while you get used to it very quickly. In addition, located above the RearKeys camera lens and to its left the Photo light. Only on the left side of the SIM card slot is placed (as with "2. The content" mentioned). On the upper side there are two small holes, but I (still) do not know here, for what is good. On the lower side one discovers the headphone jack, the microUSB charging port and the two main speakers. The reverse is true in my opinion, non-slip polycarbonate (plastic), but carries optically not very much to the otherwise been positive overall impression. Since the aluminum back of the HTC One affects ten times high, but where it should be mentioned that the plastic back of the G2 scratch-prone. In addition, the LG is thus also lighter than the HTC.
4. Commissioning
If the G2 launched for the first time, you will be step-by-step, guided partly by video tutorials, through the smartphone menu. If you have "successfully" completed the introduction, you can of course also make a variety of other settings,
5. The Performance
Although the G2 since more than a year is now available, there is one in my opinion the best smartphone in the world. No matter what you're doing, the G2 responds extremely fluid and smooth. Made possible by the built-in Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, one of the highest-quality processors that have ever been developed. Although several applications have to work together at a time, for example while navigating the GPS navigation with a navigation app and meanwhile transfer music via Bluetooth to the car radio works without problems and liquid. That is truly unique. Other smartphones hanging at something like times on or stutter, such as my Samsung Galaxy Ace 2. Even the leaves from one home screen smoothly. Apps, Applications, Widgets, etc. are immediately opened or closed.
6. The functions
As already described in the introduction, I will now enumerate the practical and modern features.
6.1 Quick Memo
Everyone knows that: You have to take notes during a call important information, but did not pen and paper handy? With Quick Memo to activate comfortable a note function, without ending the active call. Is Quick Memo activated in the status bar, you can "take notes" during the call on the display by finger writing short notes. These are then automatically stored in the memo app.
6.2 QSlide
With QSlide can get up to three applications to "drag" on the screen, for example, watch videos, enter appointments in the calendar and use the calculator. Each open application can be optimally adapted to the size and transparent switch.
6.3 Quick Remote
Since the G2 from LG has one of the few smartphones with infrared, Quick Remote enables practical but also comfortable function, the G2 as a remote for the TV, the stereo system to use air conditioning and so on.
6.4 Miracast
Miracast resembles "Google Chrome Cast", so can the screen images of the LG Smart TVs transferred.
6.5 Sleep mode
As with some landline phones and the LG G2 includes a sleep mode that makes it possible that the G2 at scheduled times does not ring. This is very convenient for the night or for schoolchildren. In addition there is also a list of exceptions when the smartphone at selected numbers will still ring.
6.6 KnockON
As it can sometimes be cumbersome due to the RearKeys to get the G2 from the standby mode, KnockON allows twice Tap the screen, so it may concern. Similarly, can be explained by rapid double-tap on an empty space on the home screen or in the Benachrichtungsleiste the G2 in the standby mode enable.
6.7 Guest Mode
With Guest Mode can disable previously selected applications / apps and then safely pass the G2 to relatives, friends, etc., so that they do not browse in their own privacy as images.
6.8 Slide Aside
With Slide Aside, up to three active applications are "frozen", so that can be continued later in the same place. For this one takes during an active application three fingers and wipes from right to left. Machine to enter the applications one makes the same from left to right.
Of course, there are other practical functions such as the intelligent screen (we know from the S3, S4 and S5 of Samsung).
7. The display
With 5.2 inches, the LG has an excellent display size. It is neither too small nor too big, so perfect for everyone. The Full-HD
Display dissolves very high, which makes itself at the sharp, high-contrast and crisp colors bemerkmar. Really a treat and so rare to find.
8. The battery
The 3,000 mAh strong, not replaceable battery is a true all-rounder. While the charging process lasts from 0 to 100% just 2:30 hours, but the battery is then fully charged, you get loose during the day. Even intensive users need not to be afraid, suddenly to stand with an empty battery. A true piece of cake from LG so.
9. Conclusion
PRO:
+ Excellent value for money
+ Pleasant screen size (5.2 inches)
+ Very high-resolution display with crisp colors
+ Very thin margin between the display and housing (2 millimeters)
+ Practical operation by RearKeys
+ High resolution camera (13 megapixel)
+ Practical and user-friendly functions (eg KnockON)
+ Scratch-prone (s) display and the back
+ Strong, enduring battery (3,000 mAh)
+ Extremely liquid Performance (Qualcomm Snapdragon)
+ Update to current operating system (Android "Kitkat" 4.4.2)
+ Very flat Smartphone (9.1 millimeters)
+ Internal dynamic memory (depending on the version 16 or 32 GB)
CONTRA:
- Only in black or white
- Back from partially slippery polycarbonate (plastic)
- Battery in an emergency bill or not interchangeable
- Built-in memory can not be expanded through micro-SD card
Despite the cons listed above, the LG G2 is of course a strong buy recommendation. Although the biggest shortcoming of non-expandable memory, the G2 convinced me from start to finish. With the LG G2 one of the world's best smartphones succeeded.
Who the RearKeys and the hooks with the memory expansion interfere, can the successor G3 access. The G3 is no longer a RearKeys and the memory is expandable with a memory card.
I hope I could help you with this review and look forward to a "vote" ...
+++ +++ UPDATE 04:01:15
Have used for the first time as a Navi today the G2. Unfortunately I have to criticize only me acclaimed smartphone the date.
As a navigation app I have installed a total of three different apps. Once NAVIGON Europe, then Scout GPS and last HERE Beta (known by Nokia, recently also available for Android).
The Apps se run all liquid. But I was misbehaving, that the speakers are so low, even if they are set in high level. You have to turn off the car radio and listen very carefully in order to understand the announcements. In all three Apps occurs the same problem.
Ways to change this would be, only to buy a "speaker" and then to infect to the G2, although this would be difficult because the G2 has the headphone jack on the underside. One would have to then use the G2 in landscape mode as Navi ...
Then I also noticed that my new car charger does not seem compatible with the G2. The LG is indeed charged (according to battery bars on the top in the Benachrichtungsleiste), but really to power or power does not increase the battery. Is possibly the fact that the car charger cable is too weak, but what I really can not imagine ...
I will continue to report positive or negative experiences.
