Test Winner - The first impression convinces 1

Older smoke alarms were in our apartment and in my mother's house already exists.
The (corresponding to the earlier prior art) needed 9 volt batteries kept pretty much exactly 1 year and the smoke alarm signaled (usually late at night) a necessary change.

The forthcoming legal smoke detector obligation from 1.1.2015 (Baden-Württemberg) for existing buildings our landlord mounted in all the rooms and hallways new detector type Ei650.

Uniformly, the prescribed installation in lounges, where intended sleeping people, and corridors that lead through the escape routes from such lounges.

By mounting our landlord I have become aware of this type of company Ei Electronic and had obtained test results and customer reviews. Convinced by the contents of the information found I ordered additional smoke detectors for my mother's house. The delivery was made by Amazon as usual quickly and smoothly (I really need not to mention)

It comes with the smoke detector, mounting plate, 2 dowels and screws and the manual.

The first impression quality workmanship and fine design. Laterally the recommended exchange date of the smoke detector is stated (in my case 2025). The recommended change period for all smoke detectors is due to the contamination of the measuring chamber through dust, 10 years. Since this period with the specified service life of the built-in lithium battery (can not be changed) matches, it is made in good time attention to a pending Change. The detector according to the manufacturer Ei650 has an automatic contamination compensation to the measurement accuracy at this time to maintain consistently high.

Eye of the large easy-press-button, the ease of use (functional test, turning off an alarm) using a broomstick (or similar) falls allows the ground. In the old smoke detectors this button was so small and hard to press, that you can not came around the climbing a ladder.

After mounting the base plate on the ceiling, the detector can be used and locked by a clockwise rotation. Only now, the detector is automatically activated by a sunken switch. A too rapid emptying of storage or for dismantling is therefore excluded. The activation is signaled by flashing a red LED. The LED does not blink in the active state (as is common in other devices).

Disassembly assurance can by lateral screwing a screw (not included) can be achieved.

A positive functional test by a long press of the Function button is signaled by 2 (at a reduced volume reproduced) Alarm tones. This I feel is a useful feature, a functional test with full volume is not necessary and the ear of the person carrying claimed unnecessarily (over).

The price of 20 euros per unit appears at first sight highly unlike Bauhaus-detectors, the reliable technology and the saved yearly battery replacement (approximately EUR 2 or more) make this but more than attractive.
