Stuart Price aka Jacques LuCont of Les Rythmes Digitales has here laid with his brothers Adam and Johnny Blake a little stroke of genius. Roxy Music have already introduced in the 70's the style and mannerisms into pop music. At the same time came with power plant added electronic sounds. Later, the whole was then perfected by The Human League, Fad Gadget and New Order. Starting in 1985, then came Modern Talking, Moti Special, Opus and other atrocities - and with the style it was visually and musically over. Zoot Woman do it with their debut, a very tasty, colorful sound cocktail of the best ingredients of the 70s and 80s (audibly influenced by Roxy Music, The Human League and Kraftwerk) zusammenzumixen. Now one could argue: Together Geklauter retro pop. But that does not apply it, because Zoot Woman bring here in a very individual touch. This is due primarily to Stuart Price, who has already digital with Les Rythmes housy pop (or pop House) finished with a perfect production. Among the pieces in detail: "It's Automatic" is a light, angejazzter and danceable song. With "Living in a Magazine 'Zoot Woman lyrics ironically their own image. Musically, it is the "rocking" song on the album with a very catchy chorus, which has inspired me for weeks. "First Information" is the catchiest and best piece. Many hear here New Order or The Human League out. I had been looking forward to the announced single release, but unfortunately did not. "You and I" can be for something, but it is still good pop above the average. "Nobody knows" is an interesting experiment: The Human League and Soft Cell who in 1982 with "Love and Dancing" and "Non-stop Ecstatic Dancing" each remix albums, based on the predecessors "Dare!" and "Non-stop Erotic Cabaret" released. Zoot Woman bring the remix version of "Nobody Knows" as part II directly on the same album. Part II is dreamy instrumental and beautiful. Next item is the Kraftwerk cover "The Model" (the biggest hit of power plant), which in the cheeky cover version with guitar even better I like than the original. "Jessie" is a declaration of love light and airy with a very beautiful melody. After the album falls high on something. The only ballad "Losing Sight" I found the other hand, very well done. Overall a very varied and exceptional quality piece of pop music. By the way, I was on the promotional tour for the concert in Cologne, and the guys are really good live (and really look as good as on the cover photo).
