The best Alien game - nothing for CoD Generation

Alien: Isolation - Ripley Edition - [PC] (computer game)

Customer Review

I can only agree with the positive feedback about the game. That's the Alien game, which I've been waiting since AvP2. It is based solely on the first Alien movie and is just for fans of this classic highly recommended.

Man plays Amanda Ripley, the daughter of Ellen Ripley. She lands on a space station, the Sevastropol where the hell's going on. Malicious people, androids and of course the highlight of the game: The Alien.

Graphics:
Visually, the game is a blast. Rarely has one seen such a good fire effects and light mood. Since the lack of shadows do not interfere, because the atmosphere is always so well captured that it is not noticed. The general appearance of the space station looks absolutely round and closely follows the film original in terms of design and construction. Here, the game runs well on mid-range PCs absolutely smoothly at maximum settings and has wiggled with me even once. (Core i5, 8GB of RAM, 6600 GTX)

Sound:
In terms of audio, the game is one of the best of all time and the game would without the soundscape not function. The sound effects are firstly very clean in 5.1 space placed. You can always hear exactly where the alien is up and running. This is very important to master the game. But the game is most effective when it sounds, effects and music sets in when nothing happens. The constant threat of the alien, the permanent running around over the players, under the player next to the player and the Foreshadowing in the first 2-3 hours of the game count for me to densely soundscape that builds a game in years. The music is very cautious and will only dramatically if the alien is in close proximity to the player. This soundtrack uses horror movie-like music, which once more driving the pulse in the air, if you fear straight in a cupboard at his virtual life.
I have rarely seen such a dense atmosphere and perfect mood in a game and stuck formally on the screen (the phenomenon that you come ever closer to the screen).

Gameplay:
Where are the gameplay already. The game is definitely not for the Call of Duty and Shootereinheitsbrei injured. It is a 1st Person Stealth Survival Horror game. Accordingly, the speed of play is very slow and Amanda very vulnerable. On heavy she is dead after an aimed shot, to normal, also holds only 3-4 opponent's balls off. The game is hard, rock hard. Who's going to careless, running to certain death. All conflicts are deadly and confrontations with humans and androids should if possible be prowled. That's thank God and you have the conflict to go up to 1-2 points in the game, at least in my Erfahrng, always the possibility that out of the way, so you need only concentrate on the Alien.

Alien:
This of course is the core element of the game. The cat-and-mouse game with the Alien. I played the game on normal and felt the alien as brutally difficult but not annoying or unfair. The magazines that claim, the alien would be wild teleport back and forth and the players in the back drop, the game all misunderstood and cheated.
Made on heavy sound? Certain death. In difficult waited too long in locker? Certain death. Running on hard with Alien around in "normal pace" across the room? Certain death.

In "Normal" the alien is less acute and not stick so much to the feet of the player. It also responds to less noise. I felt this difficulty as the best balance between atmosphere and Alien escape.

The alien AI is clever indeed. But it's never unfair, as some call them. Fies, yes, but never unfair. She is unpredictable - as it must be - and cold. My 3 first death I have a few lines already written previously. But there are many more opportunities to drop the alien victim. Direct eye contact with the alien? Certain death. Flee from the Alienwegrennen and under a table? Try the times. Here the pulse is racing and you have shaky hands when the alien escapes at the last second and pressed the elevator to the next area. And if the alien but then caught an unexpected, like the a heart attack, because one sees hardly come, you've got his tongue in his head. Later in the game all that is a little easier, but I will not spoil. ;)

The save points are, contrary to some other opinions, placed fair in my opinion. In each section there are 3-4 larger storage stations, which are all reachable within 5-10 minutes. I never had to play again if the alien has caught me more than 5 minutes. But there is a reason - I grew up with games of this type, since 22 years playing computer games and therefore know yet the old Survival / Stealth games ala Thief, Deus Ex or System Shock.
At this, the game also appreciably oriented.

Level Design:
The construction of the station is logical and has many rooms that you can unlock in the game later. The good old "Metroidvania" gameplay. Veterans know what I'm talking about. There are many doors and passages, which can be unlocked only in the course of the game with additional items, otherwise you can move relatively freely within the station and has always escaped several options the Alien. Yes, backtracking can be annoying for some players, but I think it's okay, because I am very familiar with playing this style.

Conclusion:
For me Alien Isolation is a prime example of the survival horror. It is one of the best representatives of the genre and makes very very boring because too simple and terrifying loose last console generation remember where everything was vercasualisiert. This game is rock hard, sometimes nasty, but also very rewarding. No, this game is not for the Call of Duty generation, who have grown up with far too simple shallow Games that really throw everything one's feet and consist of a thin tube level.

But who is grown up with games like Resident Evil 1, System Shock 1.2, Deus Ex 1 or Super Metroid and the movie Alien 1 knows by heart, the will experience with this game in my eyes a revelation.

Therefore, full marks. The 50 Euro have rarely paid off as in this game.
