Processing and haptics
For the price, the Panasonic's 25mm f / 1.4 really processed very well. Some fixed focal lengths of times analogue photography and the mentioned above Voigtlander feel more solid, but these have disadvantages in other fields (price, no AF, weak open aperture performance), which make them unsuitable for many photographers. The feel of the 25 / 1.4 is also very good. It fits comfortably in your hand, the MF ring is typical MFT by-wire, but gummed nice. I think that neither the front nor hecklastig it to medium-sized enclosures (such as E-M10). It's just right.
Picture quality and bokeh
At the edge there is really nothing to complain about, which is 25 / 1.4 very sharp even at maximum aperture. Dimmed by 1, 2 EV will be even better, but I use it very often at f / 1.4, because I love the buttery smooth Bokeh lens. The barrel distortion and the moderate Purple Fringing at full aperture, the only aberrations are noticed negatively. The former I find but not tragic, because I'm doing anyway with a lens of this focal length no architectural photos, the latter can be eg out expected problems with Lightroom. Despite these two hairs in the soup, I would classify the imaging performance of the 25 / 1.4 as excellent. Much more important than distortion or PF I find at f / 1.4 standard focal length the bokeh, and this is as I said very creamy.
Autofocus and noise
The AF is fast and reliable, even in low light. Feels like it is comparable soon as the Olympus 25 / 1.8 and a little bit faster than the Olympus 45 / 1.8. IV for 20 / 1.7, it is considerably faster sharp. Sorry, does not belong to the quietest lenses. The AF motor is heard even if you shoot with outstretched arms. An Olympus housings it is but because of the Rattlesnake noise, the aperture is of itself, sometimes really loud. It's definitely the wrong lens for street photographers and others who place a high value on a quiet camera / lens combination.
On the whole, it's a really great lens. I would not hesitate to recommend it to all photographers who are looking for a high-intensity possible normal focal length for its MFT camera, and on AF does not want to miss. The Olympus 25 / 1.8 is MMN for the offered light intensity too expensive (realistic would be 300) in order to come as a serious alternative in question can. Although this lens has a little less Purple Fringing and are no Rattlesnake sound. ;)
