Customer Review

First of all: I bought this monitor to once in 21: 9 to work and to be able to gamble especially. Previously I had the BenQ GL2450HM which was relatively cheap and for me, who has just bought for the first time a gaming PC, was sufficient as I was previously used to only 15-inch laptop in.

The unpacking and the construction goes smoothly equip and requires only 4 screws. Unfortunately, you can adjust only 10 or 12 cm in height and up through the screw, but for me are 12 cm anyway ideal. The power cable has an external power supply that consumes a bit of floor space. For the monitor is also slightly thinner since the transformer is not just integrated directly. Furthermore, an HDMI cable is which, according to the description really should be a DisplayPort cable, which is different by region. HDMI is ok, so all the best.

Situated struck me beside the 21: 9 format on mainly its size. Although it is longer, it seems smaller and more compact than the even me by BenQ. I suspect the reason is that he is not so high, much thinner, which he is later and because the edges are almost not visible, because they are not only narrow, but also do not protrude from the monitor. Link, the edges at the top and right on the same level as the display itself and are even under the same glass plate. Here is an effect of Ränderlosigkeit.

Furthermore, I noticed that the color reproduction is beautiful and of course to the default settings. Only now I realize how much washed out the colors of the old monitor and were wrong. At that time I had to spend hours to find an optimal configuration and here it was by default even better. I do not know whether this is an anti-glare coating was used, but the monitor does not reflect absolute. Nevertheless, that would be no problem for me, because I sit in the back and no windows, no lamps which could reflect it. Also, the viewing angle is top. No matter what direction I look on it, the image stays nice. With more than 180 degrees, it will disappear, but that's the fault of physics: P

I have to say to work that I am still running a small Chrome window in the middle and 2 at the same time rarely open to work more productively. This is perhaps because I always click between the 2 windows must to use it (in OS X, you can window A selected, move the mouse on the window B and still scroll). Nevertheless, I notice the differences to 21: 9, since it is no longer so confusing now and my icons on the left side of the desktop and the sidebar widgets remain visible on the right, even though I have a few more windows open.

While gambling, which was my main reason for this monitor, you realize 21: 9 even more. Although the field of view is probably not sufficient so far and I far left and far right do not perceive so many details, it brings in FPS games but some, because you at least realized movements in the corner of my eye and immediately know that someone has to be. In games like CS: GO as well ArmA 2 or 3 (soon with TrackIR 5) you can now rotate much faster by 360 ° and clarify the environment.

I tested ArmA 3 (compatible), CS: GO (compatible, but at Menu and Overlay partly cut off), PayDay 2 (menu, lobby, everything 16: 9, only in the game then 21: 9), Borderlands 2 (perfect, But HUD remains there as 16: 9) and ArmA 2 (not compatible, simply search for FOV Changer and manually adjust). In ArmA 2 is missing a little bit up and down (in the loading screens), but I can handle. In terms of performance can mean Sapphire R9 290 Tri-X keep up and I often will list only 1-5 FPS less, although are of 1 million now become 1.8 million pixels.

Furthermore, I find 21: 9 pleasant because the HUD elements are often quite outside and thus no longer in the way. When I look in the middle, so to speak, I have the field of view of 16: 9 and the extreme left and the far right, the HUD elements that I just see if I want to actively look at it. In 16: 9 the HUD always obscured much.

My conclusion is that 21: 9 definitely worthwhile, as long as the place and the money is there. 2 monitors to gamble are ridiculous, because of the gap in the middle and 3 are back too much. That's why I love this monitor, which is not only incredibly cheap, but high quality. Even at the end: The LG tools are nice but quite unnecessary and the LG display driver in Windows adjusts the color reproduction and makes too much contrast pure. So install the display driver NOT, it also works without. Strong buy recommendation!
