My laptop, a Toshiba Satellite P300 (Duo-core 2 GHz, 3 GB RAM, 17 "screen) date of November 2008. Despite reinstalling Windows it became very slow, so slow that I was seriously considering the sale to buy a faster one model. A friend told me about the SSD, which I had forgotten about because of their price. I consulted a comparison on product speed as I always do before buying a computer component (hard drives, graphics cards in particular) and it was the second fastest but was much cheaper than the fastest. I then went on my favorite price comparison, PriceRunner.fr (a fair comparison that puts Always the cheapest price first, unlike some competitors), and there I found a much better price than seeking directly from merchants: 100 euros I landed it at Amazon Today.. is very hard to find it below 122 euros ... Installation is simple but if you want to duplicate the contents of your hard drive to the SSD you will have to laptop with two hard drive bays, as is the case with mine, for the Samsung software that comes with it SSD does not support USB. We must therefore connect the internally via SATA for it to be recognized. Once installed in the second bay using a free cloning software that exist and clone the entire content of the hard drive, including your OS. Then I invert the hard drives I have set the SSD instead of the original DD. The computer has booted on the SSD.
On the one hand the Windows boot time is significantly faster, but above all else we see the difference: applications open in a flash, it's great! After opening the Windows session, the icons on the taskbar appear in all moments qques is archi fast! So, even Firefox opens faster, while largely works better and I feel I have a faster computer than the most powerful of the market.
My desktop computer, assembled by me, a score 7 times on a given benchmark my laptop. Well the desktop now appears slow compared with my laptop equipped with this SSD !!
In short, I highly recommend this SSD, but beware: if you want to clone the contents of your SD you must have a double bay HDD, otherwise you can not do or he will do otherwise than with USB (possibly be with an e-SATA enclosure?).
Also note that the 128 GB version is not the fastest: the 256 GB model is faster than 20% in writing, and 64 GB is slower in reading and writing. The 128 GB is a good compromise, but if you can afford the best is the 256 or 512.
