Connecting was not a problem. Player and TV (Philips) are wonderfully over HDMI. The remote control has a couple of buttons for the main functions of the TV: on / off, volume, program forward / back, AV. Very convenient, just the volume. The programming of the hotkeys is a snap. Search list of instructions, type number. Done.
Who already has a different unit of Panasonic - about a DVD recorder - has the problem that a remote control initially controls both units. However, the devices are equipped with three different channels. Setting the remote to another channel is quick and easy. Problem solved.
But for pleasure. Blu-Ray into the player and go! Madness! When reading a Blu-Ray player remembers the true to a nozzle jet, but when playing a movie it is surprisingly quiet. You no longer hear him.
The picture is excellent! Detail resolution, color, movement - the player has no weaknesses. He even offers several configuration options to further customize the image. Here you can directly set the parameters, or rely on preferences to get, for example, by setting the Cinema rather warm, soft cinematic look. With the 24p feature the Player Blu-ray movies are finally so again, as they were made for the cinema. No Convert to 25 fps and therefore neither an acceleration of the film nor the danger of jerking during movements.
The starting speed is top. However, I have no comparisons with other players. I was surprised when I Cop Out - had Locked and Loaded [Blu-ray] inserted. After the first logo me a hitherto unknown graphic appeared on a rotating disk. As usually start the Blu-Ray discs very quickly, I had feared, the player would have hanged himself. In fact, he has loaded but only the lavishness of the menus and animations of this Blu-Ray. The longer charging time is not the fault of the players in the case, but the extensive animations on the disc. (If you want to know what is possible with Blu-Rays on the possibilities of DVD also which this can try, for example, in Cop Out.)
Conventional DVDs expects the player highly fantastic. So you need not exchange his old DVD collection to see good cinema.
With music and MP3 CDs, the player boasts a clear representation of the tracks and folders. He even offers features like Shuffle (Random) - even with MP3 CDs!
In addition to a USB port on the player also has installed a SD card reader. He even reads SD cards with AVCHD footage! If you have a HD camera that records to SD card, no cables needs the camera to play. Simply take card from the camera, plug in the player and easily start playing with the correct remote control. In HD-quality course!
An occasional critique point is the firmware update process. Since the BD65EG wireless internet is not installed, you need either an optional adapter, or you can connect it via network cable to the Internet. In the case the update is not an issue. But there is also the option of downloading the file to your computer, burn it to a CD and start the update from CD. It must be noted that to format the CD correctly. Actually, no problem. There is guidance for this update. The update itself is then again a no-brainer: compartment, reinlegen CD. The rest is the player all by herself!
When power consumption of the player from Panasonic is good, but there are even better:
Operating / Standby (manufacturer's instructions in watts)
Panasonic BD65EG: 20 / 0.2
Sony BDP-S370: 12.9 / 0.15
Samsung BD-C5300: 12 / 0.09
A real off switch offers no matter which brand!
However, a joke is the Quick Start function. Here, the player remains in an increased readiness. He then starts even faster, the small time savings but bought with a permanent power consumption of 7 watts (0.2 watts instead of)! (The Quick Start function is turned off at the factory.)
Overall, Panasonic can convince again. I'm excited!
