I since February this year use the headphones now a Bryston BHA 1 headphone amplifier. The source is a Accuphase DP 550. As power and signal cables I use HMS Jubilee GF. Previously I had the following headphones: Sennheiser HD 650, Denon AHD 2000 Sennheiser HD 800 and the Denon AHD 7000. The predecessor HD 800 I have used very intensively almost three years. Because it supposedly but still better, or else goes, I have allowed myself to the Denon AHD 7000. In direct comparison, I liked this, because of his physical tonality, first better than the HD 800. It was only after intensive comparisons, I have the AHD 7000 but then re-sold. Ua me the comfort has not promised. Curiosity about other headset has remained. Which is why I also, due to the current low price, the successor AHD 7100 wanted to try. Because of the sometimes negative reviews, I was very skeptical. The design made me look and feel is not necessarily convinced. The sound, however, from the beginning already. Even the AHD 7100 tonal sounds clearly corporeal. He did not simply make more pressure than the HD 800. However, at the expense of accuracy, as one might think because of other reviews now. On the contrary, in direct comparison with the HD 800, I did not miss anything even with the resolution and fine dynamics. Extremely clean treble without any sharpening. And as I said, the physical foundation making it easy for any type of music, fun as hell. Mainly I listen to jazz and rock. Finally, I have the HD 800 sold, because I only took advantage of the AHD 7100. To avoid misunderstandings, I think the Sennheiser HD 800 headphones for an excellent, but for me personally, the Denon liked better. But the curiosity for other headphones still remained available. That's why I bought before short still the acclaimed AKG K 812. Again, this is an excellent headset that personally even a little better than I like the HD 800. After the purchase I have of course heard the first time exclusively with the AKG. Lately, however, I get again and again often on the AHD 7100 to. This physical sound is simply second to none in the long run. Here you can really hear the body of each instrument and not only the sounds. In contrast, all other, I know headphones sound, just thin and colorless. Nevertheless, I have to say quite clearly: the headphone jack, which makes everyone happy, it's definitely not. Detailed pre-listening to the own chain is irreplaceable. The comfort also plays a decisive role. As for me: I'm keeping the AKG also. I had to decide between the two, however, then the Denon would probably win it again.
