Before discovering the usefulness of fixed focus, I wanted at all costs to zoom to complete my original 18-55. And finally, my favorite being the portrait field, I opted for this fixed focal length. I hesitated between this one or even f / 1.8. Well I absolutely do not regret having made the difference in price. It is extremely powerful, I can make basketball pictures (thus a high speed) in extremely low-lit gym, and they are bright and clear: Please open! Same for indoor portraits. And the depth of field that separates the great subject from the background is just beautiful. I use it most often to f / 1.4, then when it's a beautiful sun outdoors, and we want to shoot at f / 1.4, this is delicate, so I advise an adjustable neutral density filter complement this goal.
