The worst, however, are two other things that a knockout for us: represent criterion: on the one hand the non-compatibility of the installed CD-ROM drive with many for years used for domestic purposes (original) CDs. Very often the Philips of its intended task CDs denied simply play. Many original CDs were simply not recognized etc. - message: "No Disc" after long attempts to load the CDs ... used on everyone else in the household CD players any existing original CD works perfectly, even on the cheapest equipment - just not at Philips. In the it seems to be a gamble whether and which CDs it are just right ...
Furthermore I have (despite various comparisons regarding mini-compact systems.) A rare - is one such poor sound from a Philips compact system - not typical for Philips. Of course, one must not expect miracles in this price range, but sound-wise so tinny and unbalanced (Sound: Flat) that one know what hit ...
Indicative of the poor workmanship and the first principle of cost savings from Philips: There are delivered to remote not even batteries !! As a Christmas present without sufficient "battery-fund" probably not a good idea ...
Philips MCM2000 / 12 so returned disappointed immediately and as a substitute - ordered the Panasonic SC-PM500EG-K compact system (only about 20 EUR more expensive) - between these compact systems are sound-wise worlds ... great therefore in this price segment clearly the Panasonic plant !
