Opportunistic product or quality?
Well knowing that Robert Kirkman (writer of the comic) is behind this first test (because yes, more are expected) there was little concern, and rightly so.
Indeed, for this first book, tracing the history of the famous governor, the beginning of the outbreak on its arrival in its future stronghold of Woodbury, a real quality of writing there is a neat ambiance and deep characters.
If we recognize that certain descriptive passages are not always easy to understand, overall there is no problem to dive into this post-apocalyptic adventure.
It is particularly interesting to see how each character lives the events and how it ends up affecting it.
If it is obvious that "The Ascension of the Governor" is more for those who have followed the comics and who want to immerse themselves in a new way in the universe of the series (and also learn about a of its most important figures), this novel remains accessible to anyone who just want to dive into a post-apocalyptic adventure, allusions to other products already out eventually being limited.
"Rise of the Governor" is not essential but it is a good way to extend the "Walking Dead" experience a new way.
