This disc is the first in a series of three devoted to rebetiko USA. If these records are so important is that it is in this country that this name appeared first to name a major genre of Greek music. It includes all the greatest singers and composers of the genre, and contrary to what one might think, a certain number of titles were engraved in Greece, but published by labels installed in the United States. This editor has done admirable work published by delivering not only all the names of the musicians, but also their photos and the lyrics, and the number of matrices and records dates, all strictly accurate ( which is rare). The digital transfer quality is at the height of the rest. Of course these are historical documents and the sound is far from the current standards, but for fans of the genre these drives are absolutely irreplaceable. These three volumes of rebetiko in America are the first in an important series as well made and can be considered as absolutely essential for all kinds of love. A place alongside the splendid collection published by JSP Records. Recommend without reservation!
