It is separated from the mains in principle with me. He does not have a power cord, so he gets an extension drawn when not in use out of the socket. Why? He does not constantly clean because you could compare him with a cat that constantly wants to brush at inappropriate times is there.
Then I want to print something, like just now online postage stamp on a letter quickly. Since the not so simple (for positioning on the envelope) I've done before 2 test prints. I have resigned myself to the printer when you turn (not from standby but from the mains off) at the beginning take some time, because he and the like clean the nozzles. With my old printer cartridges were always dried up, which almost can not happen here. I think that therefore in principle not bad, so you do not throw away the whole cartridge, but sacrifices a little attention to the remaining paint to use. So I've done so 2 test prints. Yellow is almost all, I do not need yellow for the stamp, so I do not care that it's been flashing all the time. What happens? After 2 test prints he purifies himself suddenly. Not only that, it lasts almost 3 minutes (and at an inconvenient time takes place) is much worse that it also cleans the yellow tank. And suddenly I have no more yellow. Although I do not need it (grayscale are set Definitely) now calls me the printer to insert a new cartridge Yellow and denied the black and white print. So I can not print the stamp on the letter. Why can not I at least gray and black print? I fortunately still a yellow cartridge which I use grudgingly what he dressing up again, but if I had no yellow cartridge, I could not even black and white document printing. An absolute impudence as a blockade! Unfortunately, my right of return has expired.
Conclusion:
- Very high cost Printer
+ Technically flawless
- Long lead times, inappropriate cleaning times
- No power off (a rogue who thinks evil of it)
+ Prints when it prints very fast (2 seconds for A4 black and white document)
Addendum of 03/04/2011:
I had now bought original cartridges, as the supplied cartridges are to be filled only to 30% or less. (Yeah, I read in the reviews here) I have neither blue nor red printed, yet both tanks are already half-empty / half-full. Only the yellow is still quite full, but I have used it only later.
Conclusion: The ink drops by the constant cleaning after power off with original cartridges very quickly.
I'm not going to buy the next time original cartridges, because what is allowed to Canon as a very bad development.

Since the Pixma MG6150 reported an error with me I sent him back to Amazon. I knew that an exchange / replacement of Amazon is going well, but that it all goes so smoothly, I never thought häte. Printer packed with all available original parts, printer sent away, say Amazon: money back from the date of purchase.
I now own the Canon MX885. This may not have a CD / DVD / Blurays print, otherwise it can do everything that the MG6150 can and still holds some features more. The Canon MX885 also cleans itself not everybody back on, but only in front of a pressure. The cleaning does not take too long. The cartridge of the MG6150 are compatible with the MX885. So you can scan without having the printer itself zwagnsweise cleans or generally cleans the mains off.
The successor to the MG6150, MG6250 the soon to be released should have this "power off" the MX885 also because there is talk of "Controlling Power Management". But I can not promise anything, because I do not own him. Those who want power off and preferably not print CD / DVD / Blurays directly, is well advised when he picks up the same MX885.
