First things first: the sound
Absolutely everything - ups and downs, instruments and voices - sounds when HD 700 (yet) clear and transparent, (even) more present and more accentuated. The bass is precise, deeper and tighter (as the HD 600) and indeed to superimpose without ever different sounds (like occasionally at Focal: hear this, the abysmally beguiling bass on Zelmanis "Decade of Dreams" or some electronic warbles deep tones from the "Relax" series). Drums, percussion and Co. come as round, crisp and rich that it's a true hi-fi joy. Voices sound fantastically sensual and depending on the level at times something pointed (keyword: "sibilance").
So be careful at first hearing: jubilant voices, squealing guitars, blaring horns, hot groovy drums, but also sound sticks or mere snap of the fingers can - depending on the level - strike in ear and brain, at least initially like shots. This is, however, quickly and soon makes addicted! (Keyword: "importing").
Tips sound just pointed and beats sound beating, so we come to the main point: The HD 700 is much more "dynamic" than the HD 600. Ever "dynamic": the alternation of loud and soft, fast and slow, light and dark, high and deep. Here is the HD 700 - when the recording is true - actually "breathtaking". Therefore also true: Too relaxed, leaning back listening is often not possible, but active listening and Contribute is announced. And that's what I had hoped for from the HD 700!
To prevent misunderstandings: The HD 700 does not add anything, omits nothing and nothing on bags. He brings just that - namely everything - the blades, which give the recording and player and amplifier.
Finally, a word about OPTICS and comfort:
The metallic industrial and aerospace look I find just great. What does the (really great headphones) HD 600, however modest ... to the sensual (artificial) leather-feel of the Focal is the HD 700 not approach; ever one has hardly anything to touch. But have my ears - as opposed to the Focal - in HD 700 more than enough space.
The HD 700 feels extremely light and fits like a glove on your head so that you hardly notice it, in fact. While the HD 600 as a (perfectly fitting) padded plastic helmet feels and the Focal presses on the ears, you have the HD 700 a featherlight cap on head and ears. Here the only truly "critical" point: The pressure is so low and the microfiber cushions so soft and smooth that it slightly (to) "soft" sitting and threatens to slip in too rhythmic head movements. As I said: Be careful when first hearing!
One more thing: the cable - finally no Klingeldrähtchen (as in the HD 600). Reinforced, rigid and isolated, it is somewhat reminiscent of iron, not threaded the same always and everywhere, and looks very trustworthy! Must however a bit "unhook", as it tends to start to form loops. Something is always ...
PS To all friends of classical music: As soon as I recovered my CDs of Mozart's piano concertos, conducted by the Karajan Beethoven symphonies and Bach with me lost works for organ and violin out of the woodwork and rediscovered with the HD 700, I report back ...
