1. The HDMI output is not 1080p, despite the logo "1080p" printed in front of the player.
Of course, the DVDs are not in 1080p; but a true 1080p reader should "upsampler" (convert) the DVD format (eg 576i) to 1080p. The goal is not to improve the quality (the best player in the world can not "add lines" on a DVD to convert Blu-Ray!), But to ensure better compatibility with TVs that not handle this "upsampling".
2. The remote control is almost not.
During the first tests, we managed to open and close the reader a couple of times, but it had to be a fluke. As we could not navigate the DVD menu, we tried 3 different sets of batteries, and placed the remote control to the receiver 10cm ... In vain. We ended up launching the DVD by pressing the "play" button on the player.
Add to this other minor inconveniences.
3. The manual is a joke.
Good luck to understand what is the exit "coaxial" or if the SCART output (SCART) is RGB or "component" in the French manual is very badly translated and the English manual is not better. I do not know what language was the original. Good to know: the famous coax output is its output, no video output. If your TV does not have HDMI input, or if it acknowledges that 1080p, you must use the Scart output, possibly with a converter of this style (). I have not tested this last combination (I finally connected the player to another TV in HDMI).
4. The connection is not provided.
There is a 3xRCA cable provided in the box but no Scart or HDMI cable. This is a minor inconvenience in itself; excluding accumulated other problems mentioned before, because you have to play a guessing game to find the combination of connectors that will work with your TV ...
Finally, buy this product if you are really very poor and you already cables / adapters on the arms. If not, go your way and find a slightly better and less frustrating product to install and use.
