Many potential successors have seen the light of day during this period, but they were, in my and in the eyes of many other, more backward steps. From (in my opinion) useless features like interchangeable weights and a 4-way scroll wheel to less comfortable ergonomics. Logitech seems to have noticed that even in times of G5 and G9 refresh it's still the MX518, which is the largest sales.
And so Logitech has finally limited to, improving the near-perfect mouse meaningful. Many criticisms not gabs with the MX518: The smooth and dirt prone to surface and the inability to adjust the USB frequency via software easily.
With the G400 now comes out the true heir of the MX518, exactly where these points have been improved. No unnecessary additional functions. The improvements in the details: The surface in anthracite not only looks stylish appearance, it also avoids the great perspiration of its predecessor. The sensor has been revised and is available with up to 3600 dpi more than fast enough, even for extreme HighSens player. Last but not least comes the new gaming software used, which sends the time-honored Setpoint retire. Unlike Setpoint They truly amazing opportunities, precisely defined to individual games macros to profiles.
All in all, Logitech can only be grateful that here was actually paid to the essentials. The mouse is as usual great in your hand, the surface is pleasant and the sensor operates as smooth as silk, particularly with 1000 Hz. Anyone who wants to inherit his MX518, I put the G400 warmly recommend.
