The magic of the Hammond organ ...

Symphony for the flayed (CD)

Customer Review

Excellent discovery of this end of year 2014 that the first album released by Viennese Flayed Klonosphere, discoverer of metal collective talents in France.
Around the mastermind of the group, Julian, guitarist who composed all of the album, but starting line up for another who did not give him complete satisfaction, we find his old friends: Renato for hoarse voice, Rico on rhythm guitar (Julien ensuring all solos), Charly on bass, JP on drums and keyboards Raf. Yes, there are keyboards, and not just any since Rafinet, his thing to it, besides the big beard and pipe, is the Hammond organ. And this is one of the essential elements of his (and originality) of Flayed, namely the organ on which gives it a vintage touch and inevitably recalls bands like Deep Purple with a combo gladly admits the influence. The other components of this sound, being this song Renato frayed, especially Rock 'n' Roll, composed with great choruses are you in the noggin, good guitar solos, all backed by a solid rhythm section.

In detail, the album starts with the powerful Sweet Coverage, probably the best song on this album. The intro of the Hammond organ is particularly successful. Renato's voice is rough and particularly sticks to the style, the others ensure choirs on the chorus, solos Julien are sent.
Among the other highlights of this album, I would like to quote Superhero, more bluesy, almost typed Whitesnake of the old era and Machine Fun, more typical AC / DC with a riff and catchy song and a good old groove, where Angus would met John Lord, breathed, of course, by the organ of Raf.
There are also the more punchy with such songs like Old Son Of Manners and Sickness. Imagine this time the meeting between the band and Lemmy John Lord, it gives you an idea, and it's still very good. To prevent Renato falls on me, I said that his vocal lines are more nifty than Lemmy, including Son Of Sickness, where he made a great job. Never Unleash My Hand is also a good piece reminiscent of Deep Purple in the great years. The chorus is outstanding, the Blackmore-inks solos and Renato honored.
Finally, I can not help but have a little note to the pieces are Symphony For The Flayed, Upside Down and Free Mind, because it is a downright bluesy side of the band that is highlighted. It is very successful, inspired voice of Renato still sticks especially well to exercise, the organ is quite comfortable (the solo a little reminiscent of The Doors), as is the guitar Julien.

As I was suggesting intro, I particularly enjoyed listening to this album. Meanwhile, I also had the chance to interview the friendly people full and discover the scene of Korigan Luynes. Even if they played enough little time, I could detect a promising group in original style that will further expand the range of choice of French metal. Flayed be reckoned with in the coming years.
