This album grooves from start to finish. After several press reports, I had expected a standard, melancholy Allerwelt blues album, but Slowhand surprised me again. Sure, at first glance, this seems an album full of classic blues, but it's more. Clapton arranges the familiar Blue schemes new, and one is often surprised by unexpected key changes. On the other hand, these changes harmonize perfectly with the classic Blue scheme and make what you hear a lot more interesting. Especially taken it has given me the sixth song, "Last Fair Deal Gone", in which according to the classic, slow intro is followed by a groovy, easy country-like rhythm. This song tears with one hand, like it or not. In general, the album is a masterpiece of craftsmanship, the pieces have been beautifully arranged, some (very softly) played instruments in the background that make the whole thing only perfect, but unfortunately can only identify with a very good hi-fi system. This concoction is the logical evolution of "Reptile", and Clapton has once again shown that he can surpass himself readily yet. For so far, the album of the year!
