--- Packaging --- Accessories ---
The Sony Reader comes in a neat package that resembles a book in a certain way. Inside is neatly tucked the reader, which is a beautifully presented when opening the lid. As an accessory, Sony equipped the reader an extremely useful neoprene case and a very long USB cable and a Quick Start Guide. The Reader can be by default only when using the USB cable (similar to iPod) charged. Sony also provides a few excerpts with the Reader. The management software of Sony (similar to iTunes) and a detailed instruction manual are also on the reader, so you this is always there. Very practical in my opinion. All in all, the reader is well packed and the accessory is certainly in order.
A memory card slot is not available.
--- --- Desing processing --- --- haptics
The desing of the PRS 300 is simple and elegant. At first I was a little surprised about the design and the choice of materials. In the photos on the Internet, the reader had always something "cheap". If one then has him once in the hands of this feeling into perspective wonderfully fast. The back is made of metal, the reader really feels good and makes a high quality impression. The build quality is above reproach. Everything budge, nothing wobbles and everything is in the right place.
--- Handling --- operation ---
The Reader is wonderfully small and relatively easy. He feels though heavier than it looks (One might forgive me the subjective description) is nevertheless wonderfully in the hand. The focus is optimal and the navigation key to scroll is well attached. The thumb is the key almost automatically. The operation is on no mystery. A Navkey, a Home button, a Back button and an enlargement button form controls. Also to be found at the page 10 number keys with which selected- menu items and pages can be driven directly.
The handling and operation leave nothing to be desired.
--- Screen --- --- Read
Books come either through other viable book management software from Sony on the reader or by drag and drop in Windows Explorer. Both works simply and easily. The internal memory is 512 MB in size and can not be expanded. However, this is perfectly acceptable and sufficient for approximately 300 books. Since the Sony PRS 300 eBook Reader is so to speak a pure enough the memory of all. A big advantage of the Sony Reader is its uncomplicated handling of various file types. ePub, PDF, Rich Text, Word and more provides the reader easily. The real highlight of the reader, however, is the screen. I have here certainly does not take advantage of the E-Ink technology mention. The screen is big enough for me, not just reflects and enables the E-Ink technology, a completely relaxed reading. For me, it is indeed like reading on paper. I do not want to miss.
--- Conclusion ---
The Sony does what is expected of him perfectly. It is a handy eBook Reader with a perfect display and without gimmicks. Anyone looking for a reader with whom he simply wants to carry a variety of books and this also would "only" read is precisely in view of the low price here at the right place. For the Sony PRS 300 was built and perfect.
