My ratings for the remote control:
+ Very fast delivery- Saturdays ordered, delivered on Mondays!
+ Greater range than thought, in a room she works up to about 10m distance from the camera.
+ Also works if you hold the remote sideways (90 degrees) in about 10 cm distance from the camera, the lens here reflects the infrared rays to the sensor. (Even outside in bright cloud cover).
It is relatively small, so can easily be lost! But they do have an eye on the remote control,
so that you can attach a belt to it.
- The battery can absolutely not be opened with the fingers (nails), I have a small screwdriver (nail file, nail scissors works also) between Clip 1 and the housing pushed and then slowly levered the subject ... It can be, however, a slight Macke Press in the housing area, if you are not careful!
Description of function:
The remote control mode can be set separately for the camera (Canon 550D) for photography and filming! With the remote control (FB) is located on the back of a small sliding switch.
Photo mode: If you press the FB and the auto focus does not focus, the camera makes a picture.
There are different settings in photo mode:
Set on Selbstausauslöser / remote control in the camera when photo mode menu. Press slide switch on the FB on o and button: focused camera and triggers. Since the camera is set to self-timer, the 550D triggers Press the shutter button on the camera until after 10 sec. From! So working simultaneously with FB and trigger the body, is limited.
Slide Switch FB yields on 2: focused camera and solving for 2 sec. Off. Again, triggers the camera when pressing the resolver on Body after 10 sec. From.
Mirror lockup, Batch Imaging (color, brightness), everything is possible. Bulb is not a problem, with 2 sec. Or directly forward. Press once button, bulb exposure starts. Again drücken- duration exposure is terminated.
The movie mode is not affected by these settings and is activated separately in the Video menu:
Set video mode (rotary switch), "activate remote control" in the menu set. When FB sliding switch to O, press button: camera focuses (slowly!) And take a photo. Video function or Photo function can also be initiated on the camera (Video button or Shutter).
FB slide switch to 2, press button: Movie recording starts immediately (without focusing by auto focus!). Press button, video is stopped. Video function can be started or stopped on the camera or with FB simultaneously.
So you want to in front of the movies then there is this focus, somewhat cumbersome solution: do not put the thumb of the FB on o, press the button (it is focused and a picture is taken), then switch the slider to 2, press button and the freshly focused movie recording starts ....! Or you can focus manually.
Or the other way around: If you switch on, the slide switch before or after the movies on o and presses the button of the remote control, then the camera takes a photo that has the same values (brightness, color, etc.) as the video clip. Thus one has then virtually still a still image to the video clip.
Another Craft Tip: To turn the camera when I'm behind to trigger with the Department, I have rightly carved a cork that fits squeezed between grip and lens mount. That's what I have an aluminum sheet (white cardboard strip is also) attached, which reflects the infrared rays coming from the FB to the sensor at the front of back handle. Works up to 2 m distance behind the camera.
When triggered (Stop) of the photo or video function front flashes a yellow light. Even with the Bulb function. This can be distracting if you want to go unnoticed filming animals, for example. I just about glued tape.
Anyway, I do not want to miss the remote control, the purchase was worth it definitely!
