The primary reason for the purchase was simple: the style factor. The Lowepro is functionally and qualitatively a super bag, and in terms of quality this Retro 5 also superior in my opinion. But it's just a more rigid, 4-square box, the light dangling and immediately identifies on 500m distance as "tourist with expensive camera" due to the strength. I have long considered whether this fact is worth the extra cost of 100. Since I consider the Retro 5 in hands I know: Yes! But it also depends.
The Lowepro is assessed significantly higher quality than Kamer protective bag. In Gegenesatz for retro 5, the cover is padded neat, optional lockable with zipper, for SD cards, there are two perfectly fitting of padded compartments (at Retro5 is this being considered an extra available SD card pouch) and insgeasmt the Lowepro acts more stable.
For me this was not an advantage but. The stablie, padded lid pocket makes the bag a little unwieldy to provide the poor comfort.
Quite different is the Retro 5. The lid can be kept open. It is not very stiff and so clings to the body. The shoulder strap is more comfortable. And despite almost the same external dimensions to fit the Retro 5 (probably due to the lower padding) significantly more pure. When Lowepro is with my Sony Alpha 65 with attached 16-50 / 2.8 + a SAL35 / F1.8 and 2 batteries, charger, cable, etc. slowly closing. When Retro 5 _locker_ still fits the 50-200 telephoto with pure. And a 7 "tablet.
The criticism that the lid is slightly too small for the bag, the Retro 5 must have already fallen. The edges of the pocket are on the left and right in fact. Sealing is nothing. Is that the lid barely padded, is also suboptimal. If my Lowepro is tumbled times from the crowded trunk, I did not bat an shoulder .. the camera is certain nothing happens. That will not be so in the case of the retro 5.
But it is just a really cool bag, which despite its small size provides plenty of storage space and half decent cushioning. Who but the upholstery is more important than the style factor, which is still served me a whole 100 Lowepro better and cheaper. The production costs are likely to be the same for both. And this fact is also the only reason I Retro 5 a star depart! Cheap produced in Vietnam, and bartered for 144, only because they are so cool that you can not afford that.
