On closer inspection, the impression was then mixed.
I had planned my Come with 18 months in the years technology Android tablet Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and the 3years old netbook Asus Vivo Tab Smart with the peel together.
In fact, the first impression was further very positive: The configuration dialog was done logically and quickly. The surface is chic and performant (faster than the UI on my GTAB 10.1). The Windows Internet Explorer 10 is the hammer. Page layout and scrolling I have never seen before. The service definitely makes fun.
The operating logic of the Modern UI from Microsoft is in my opinion an innovative and intuitive. Even the normal Windows desktop in a classic look was surprisingly good to use with your finger and the Tablet was noticeably faster than my netbook in the office environment.
The problems began but then when I wanted my old Google Account include (for addresses, mail and calendar). This should be routine and is quite as provided by Microsoft to like me to lure the "Migrators" back to Windows. But as I turned it: it was not working. The error message said that at my Google-mail address or password is something wrong. The authentication failed, no matter what I was doing. I then changed itself the Google password to a banal letter-number combination. Nothing brought improvement. In Microsoft browser, however I was able to easily log on to Goggle. The apps were me but barred.
A look at the relevant newsgroups brought the realization that it not only went so me. One user reported that he had bought two devices for himself and his girlfriend, with your Google Account and went its not. Pity!
The fun was further spoiled me when I felt practically what a poorly filled App Market means. Gaping void in all my targeted searches!
Skype was installed and is bound to the first filing firmly to the Windows Live ID. After that you can not have another Skype account on the tablet longer use. Skype can be had then not switch off and is always active when the Tab network connection has. Why something, Microsoft ?!
To make matters worse could not be put under the Skype app, the front camera in motion. There was no error messages. But when I unleashed a video call, I saw my opposite during this did not see me! The same, if he anwählte me with video. The Fotoapp the front camera worked perfectly.
Speaking App Market: My Tab meldetet me that 28 apps were to update. When I triggered the update, only one app has been updated and the others waited for hours on your update, without anything happened. Because reboots did not help!
The update of ASUS firmware and Windows 8, however, went off perfectly.
The edge of the tablet is actually something sharp in his hand. Do not understand how you can do as an experienced hardware Bauer something. But it is also not a disaster. One can stand it. Had no reason for me to return.
My conclusion: a lively and chic part! As a Windows netbook replacement (netbook, notebook no!) Unreservedly recommended, but an Android tablet may have been functional from Windows-Tab (yet) replaced. A comfortable transition did not work with me also.
Windows 8 has with his ModernUI NMM some opportunities on the tablet market when later times everything works as it should and there is finally a tolerable range of apps! Then I try it like again.
But Microsoft patronized the User conceptually significantly stronger than Google with Android. Is probably more towards Apple. That will probably never really liked me.
So for now I'll stay the Android tablet more loyal. And my netbook has yet to hold out a bit. The ASUS Tab went back to the dealer. Only as a netbook replacement it was me then but still too expensive.
Oh yes: Who still buys a Windows RT tablet instead of the ASUS Vivo Tab Smart ME400c, I can not help you!
