Actually I wanted to wait until the current photo-magazines show up the first tests. Unfortunately, then such short tests are often times doing that one does not always provide the information on which it has been waiting for. I have decided therefore to buy the lens immediately and to test themselves.
That struck me:
Positive:
- Due to the minimum focal length of 28mm (22mm and not even 24mm) hardly occur distortions on
(24mm would have been nice though, but the angle of view at 28mm ranged far for landscapes etc. also)
- I really like the sharpness over the entire zoom range; even at 300mm the sharpness is still fine
- The lens also has no area where it somehow reflects unclean or even mushy; neither in individual image
areas had time yet over the entire zoom range (I have a Tamron mega-zoom lens, which precisely at
200mm totally unclean and soft abbildete, but just because; that's not the case here)
- Autofocus runs very Schauber and surprisingly fast and fail
- The VC (Vibration) is one of the best; it looks really like at 300mm it captures and stabilizes the image; really good
- The tube does not go out alone, when the lens is tilted forward
- The workmanship is very good and feel fit (also to the demands of full-clientele)
- The zoom adjustment runs absolutely smoothly without any lag or places where to turn the Zoom heavy going
- Via focus ring can intervene at any time to manually adjust the sharpness and even (by)
- Locktaste exists
- Entferungsskala exists
- The weight is perfectly acceptable
- Lens Hood is like Tamron usual equal here
- As a small addition is a serial number for the software included in the package Silkypix; However, it is not about the
latest version of RAW-capable image editing program mens which is not among the fastest anyway; but who still
has no other software of its kind, is as ever a free entry
Negatives:
- (Still) quite expensive
- Some slight color fringing (CA) there are particular in the border area, but I can live with, especially as these with current
Software are removed quickly with a few clicks
- Is good (because of construction) only conditionally for macros
- Who, for example, like photographed city centers, which needs more Wide
In summary, the focus is fast and seated, the focus is consistently great and the results speak for themselves.
The fact that the lens is a compromise that should be clear. There are each better lenses for each focal length range. I myself have twelve different lenses and several Canon L lenses. And yes, they are better than the Tamron. But none of them has this focal length range and can thus come for all-purpose and when traveling or hiking with a light pack for use. But I have seen no lens from the mega-zoom category (and this is already my fourth trip to a zoom 18-200mm, 18-270mm and 18-250mm), where you have to accept so little compromise.
In other words, I did not think that the Objetiv can provide as good performance (especially at 300mm).
I'll keep it in any case.
One is perhaps more still for newcomers in this matter ...
The 28-300mm is good in my eyes for APS-C cameras (such as EOS 1100D, 700D or 70D). Through their crop factor would already lose too much 28mm wide angle, which would be negative for many common applications. But in the field of full-frame DSLRs to get along well with 28mm. One can also have a wide-angle lens with you on your trip (if available).
Whether there is a series dispersion regarding the processing and Schärfelesitung with this objective, of course, I can not say. My objective seems to be flawless. In some forums but you can also see images that gewurden not taken properly or where portions of the photos are not focused properly. And I do not mean the extreme corner areas. Whether there really exists a series dispersion or an operator error, can only speculate. I can only say that whoever wants to have a travel zoom for its full-frame camera, this lens should be even closer look and try it. To me it has around 500 photos provided extremely little waste and allows already great pictures.
