The assessment refers only to the update. Lightroom ansich is a silver bullet, and the software to 95% most often used as a photographer for me.
I have a wedding photojournalism thus edited. Some of the new or enhanced tools cover exactly the areas that I was able to realize only with detours with LR or had to strive Photoshop. Here the two most important, for which I also undertook the update:
+ Above all these reamed Lens Corrections. Especially the equalizing's finally enough out of LR. Clear, architectural photographers wished probably more and more accurate. But for my needs, it is the right and most importantly fast.
+ The new radial filter is similar to the graduated filter and it can be used the same specifications. Genial to produce non-centered vignettes and so to draw attention specifically in the image.
So much for the new features that are worth me the upgrade price. LR5 has so serious mistakes that so productive work is only conditionally possible. Here, for me, the two worst:
- LR5 "forgets" the export of reduced images (eg for the Web), the de-noising and sharpening! High-ISO images must be re-edited in Photoshop, before they can be published. Adobe is aware of the error, but will fix with a later version LR him first. An impertinence, I find.
- The drilled area repair tool would ansich brilliantly simple and with an upgrade basic. However, it has so performance issues that work effectively so that it is not possible.
In relevant forums is yet to read of x other annoyances with the new LR version. I have only listed the points which concern above all my needs.
I strongly advise the update only to carry out with version 5.1. LR 5.0 is in this form is not useful for me. I work for now again with LR 4.4 on.
