Definitely yes with my Sony Vaio VPC-F24C5E I have 2 x 8GB = 16GB Corsaire CMSO8GX3M1A1333C9 installed and the part is running really fast as opposed to the original built-in 4GB Hynix bars. But I am not surprised ;-))

And out of curiosity, I have installed the latches (2x 8GB) in a Sony Vaio EB1M5177B - is NOT running.
Manufacturer: withstand max 4GB - but then the exciting experiment: only a bar 8GB - does not ... but then the mixture: 1 Bar 8GB and the other bolt 4GB (Hynix) or 1GB or 2GB (also Hynix) as a second latch - running smoothly.
This EB1M Vaio so you can upgrade to 9/10 / 12GB ... and then hums quite nice.

Both NBs have WIN7 / 64 Home Premium as OS

Good info for the Vaio community, or !?
