Customer Review

As a big Two Steps From Hell / Thomas Bergersen supporter, I know that he's not the most famous musician (which I think is unfortunate). Why did I before I write about 'Sun' my wall of text, would say a few words about him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thomas Bergersen ...
... Is a Norwegian composer who composed under the label of 'Two Steps From Hell' songs for trailers. The fan base of this music speaks of the music genre 'epic' what 'Trailer Music' is actually. Thomas published in 2011 his first solo album 'Illusions'.
This album for me was (until the release of 'Sun') without much competition, no. 1. Now finally appeared 'Sun' which was for 4 years in production.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sun:
The solo productions of TB have always reflected his skills in various styles of music and elements of his varied style combines (Genre: World music).
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What are differences compared to the previous masterpiece 'Illusions'?
- An item that has previously appeared in any of his songs, are nature sounds such as weather effects or animal sounds.
- It forceful instrument deposits, electronic sound effects, bass and children's choirs are used.
- Allusions to the African musical culture, I have long awaited (since his work on the soundtrack for 'The Human Experience').
- Catchy and simple melodies (right earwigs to buzz / whistle!) That in the background of the song can be found as well as times.
- I do not know what to call it, but the choir 'The Choir of Sofia' was a kind of 'electronic Verbleichung' on some songs placed, as it is known, for example, from its industrial albums 'Dreams & Imaginations' or 'Illuminati' ,
- More highlights and increases in the individual songs.
- The length of the individual songs is perfect and give a better hearing than the 'Illusions'. Sometimes I could not hear a song, it was just too long and had to skip it ('Aura', 'Illusions'). Register here, each song a perfect length and captures a time and again, if it does become boring seem.
- Each song is (simply put) a masterpiece in itself. In 'Illusions' there were a few songs that have not triggered a gooseflesh effect or they were eventually too boring / repetitive.
- Attention to detail. They always discover something new, which is a previously not noticed. Thomas has several musical 'eggs' hidden that must be found, which also brings a very high replay value with it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Where are they equal?
- Clearly the 'Wiederhörwert'. Both 'Illusions' and 'Sun' you can listen to over the years repeatedly, even goose bumps you get even. As known from 'Sun' the title song 'Sun', 'Cry' or 'Cassandra' respective min. 2 years and all 3 songs have been played more than 80 by me personally times, it is clear to me that even 'Sun 'the high replay value of' Illusions' has.
- The balance between epic and emotional songs. 'Illusions' has for me so to the 6 (7) songs that I would classify epic and 'Sun' 5 (6) songs. Both offer plenty of variety. Even if 'Sun' in the direction going emotionally, as some write, the individual emotional songs also offer bombastic highlights that more than make amends.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Where is Sun not at the height of its predecessor?
Here I had to honestly think long and then I came up with the choruses. By sometimes monotonous repetitions.
Even the children's choir ('The Coir of Sofia') suffers in 'New Life' and 'Colors of Love' from the 'electronic Verbleichung', which I mentioned previously.
However, this is not always the case, sometimes it sometimes do not like it, but.
'Illusions' has these deviations and not sound in choral singing constant. But the case also not in every song. 'Sun' trumps many songs just on how 'Illusions' (Alone 'Sun', 'Cassandra', 'Always Mine', 'Empire of Angels' are good examples).

Now to the individual songs. To award points is still hard, I find all the songs brilliantly:
Before Time: A better intro you can imagine how Thomas plays the electric violin here hardly, packs a directly and transferred us into another world. The world of Thomas Bergersen. Also you can hear here at the end of the first signs of the new natural effects (bird sounds) and forwards thus seamlessly Creation of Earth a. 8.5 / 10
Creation of Earth: It starts quietly through electronic effects and birdsong, is the singer of T-Rex and the mighty roar of a lion on a goosebumps driving chorus (The Choir of Sofia 'African tinged) directed. One of the best songs of him absolute goose bumps! 10/10
Sun: Known under 'hard-boiled' fans longer and is a very emotional song. Begins calmly, increases until the ingenious use of string instruments, which still causes goose bumps. Compared to the old version is here the end with the violins use of TB and the vocal performance (Merethe Soltvedt 'fan favorite of vocalists) new. 10/10
Cry: was also already known. Nothing has changed, but it was also difficult to improve. A very powerful (by powerful bass) and emotional (vocal performance Molly Conole) song, which also has demanded so many tears me. At the first listening sessions 9/10
Our Destiny: Catches accompanied directly pure instrumental by string instruments and a piano / piano playing at. Then by a powerful choir use imported and exported to the main part. 9.5 / 10
New Life: This is where Thomas a known of Illusions element: Bulgarian Choir. This ingenious song begins by the children's / men's chorus and the 'Choir of Sofia' quietly and sensitively to. Is from an Irish flute (Chris Bleth), violin (TB) and other fine instruments (piano, drums, wind instruments, etc.) accompanied. Is a beautiful song, but sometimes suffers from the above-mentioned problem with the electronic Verbleichung. 10/10
Final Frontier: Has often highlighted because of the 18 French horns. And rightly so! Here Thomas has taken a simple melody, 'encircled' by the use of a growing orchestra, electronic effects or vocal performance of Merethe Soltvedt is. When you hear it, you know exactly what that means;) In the end, this reminds me of short piano player from Inception :) 10/10
Starchild: Another song that uses natural effects (raindrops, thunder). Catches also quiet on by a 'celtic' ajar voice, piano and just mentioned effects. Until a thunder Starchield initiates to another fast and epic song. The use of string instruments is admirable, as they have played a hell of pace. All in all, an epic title 9/10
Colors of Love: is the longest song on the album, is a but not really aware of because it can never cease to amaze, always increases, and a damn good catchy melody! Here again the Bulgarian Choir (The Choir of Sofia) will be set and will be accompanied by string /, a variation of wind instruments and drums. A 'break' roughly in the middle, leads with electronic effects, the highlight of the orchestra. Then ends quietly contemplative by effects. Absolutely brilliant! 10/10
Cassandra: become a classic among fans. By far one of the best songs on the emotional level of TB, was the first title that has ever demanded a tear from me 2 years ago. This song encourages formally to playing a piano, the strings make it reflective, the unknown (?) Vocalist and choir make it very emotional. Still one of the best songs and long desired by fans, fits absolutely perfect in this grandiose album. 9.5 / 10
Always Mine: The very beginning of the electric violin (TB) suggests that this song is something special. By the time the chorus (Merethe Soltvedt support this in the background) starts with this gorgeous melody and the African-inspired men's chorus starts in between, it flows through sheer joy. And just want to jump up and dance. Something completely new for me from TB, here he has tinkered a great joker, I would under the ranks of his best 5 songs incorporate (hard enough!)! Masterpiece way! 10/10
Dragon Country: Another epic title. Begins quietly with a piano playing, then by strong wind instruments and the re very welcome string instrument used (also TB) for typical epic style of TB. Contrasts greatly from other epic songs of various albums from TSFH, through the exotic use of flute and of course the brilliant melody. 9.5 / 10
Fearless: The most special and exotic song on this album. The use of the famous Bulgarian choir (also 'The Choir of Sofia') that is accompanied by a wacky but epic violin solo of TB (which sounds like Tina Guo, high praise!). The instruments, the choir, the great string instruments in the background (later service), towards the end of the Irish instrument (name omitted) and the Bass define clearly the highlights. And make this song to a exotic car, which I love (as with 'Illusions' 'Rada' and 'Starvation'). 9/10
Empire of Angels: Embodies for me Thomas emotional and epic style perfectly in a song. Starts with a quiet chorus and individual short strings, these strings are then expanded and forms a beautiful string game. A small piano application then derives the climax, in which Merethe Soltvedt her angelic voice (to match the title) can flaunt. And as if that's not enough, cut just before the end of some instruments again Rauss to mark all around the peak (I love this place). 10/10
Two Hearts: The last song, in which you can listen to this album Merethe Soltvedt excited. 2 notes provide again the basis is, which represent the heart of the 2 tracks. The lyrics, the singing Merethe were written of itself. The elf-like language was developed by herself. The translation of this is supposed to be in the Deluxe Edition. One of the most beautiful songs of TB at all, and I think the most beautiful in the voice of Merethe. 10/10
In Paradisum: In Paradisum is made based on 'Gloria' from 'Two Steps From Heaven' (as 'Cassandra'). I think here is some ask when they hear it: 'What makes such a song as a, in comparison, exciting album?'
After such an exciting album, it is perfect to use as a peaceful song as outro to come down again and to accumulate. 'Gloria' has been extended here by the use of stringed instruments and trumpets and rounds off the whole album. 8/10
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That sounds mightily on course, but I also realized that he can improve even more. Some songs, such as 'Fearless' or 'Always Mine' one hears that there is even more. :) Of course does not mean, as you have read above, that do not like them. All songs are 'diamond worth'.
If I'm sure since 2009, TB I will accompany you in his next albums for TSFH and upcoming solo albums since its development is just amazing. Again and again he surprises me anew and topt previous songs / albums. I will as much as possible support him and hope that his inspiration to write new songs, will last long.
Until then, many thanks to Thomas for this grandiose masterpiece that I would long to hear with great joy and will.
For the one who could read so much about an album, I want to thank also, I hope this review was able to help you and you will also be as long as I take pleasure in 'Sun'.

PS .: Since even a Deluxe version with more songs announced (exclusive for this version) (will be strictly limited), I will try my best to get hold of this and to submit an update to the new songs here.
