After receipt I installed all the updates from Asus and Microsoft (incl. Windows 8.1).
First of all I would advise everyone urgently from purchasing this device from because:
1) when will put the unit on the blue Taichi key in one of four modes (notebook, tablet, mirror, or dual screen mode), the display control may not operate correctly.
Normally we return again sometime in the notebook mode (only the inner screen) and works. Then fold the laptop and want to use the tablet mode, the device switches automatically to the no longer displays. This works only with a manual pressing the Taichi button. When switching back this is exactly (it is not a lock key or similar activated). The only chance of returning to the auto switch between tablet and notebook, only access, or open the unit to return is a complete reboot of Windows.
2) once you've manually changed the display mode and then returns to the notebook mode, shows the Taichi on the external display anything, but the Touch function is still active. This means that on the inner notebook screen (work on which one wants to) be triggered approximately 2 times per second and clicks a work is impossible. A toggle the modes solves the problem not only the activation of the lock button to notebook mode. The Haunting continues but once you take the lock out again.
3) If the unit is started collapsed (tablet mode), it happens again and again that it fails at the password entry for Windows, since there is no touch screen keyboard appears. Also, do not press the password field and after several Einlogversuch without a password and click the following password field. The only solution, it is easy to open the device, log in and close the cover again (This should not be the purpose of the tablet mode).
4) The unit does at times what it wants. The keyboard backlight turns at times, try. At startup, the keyboard lighting is usually not turned on in the Windows password entry. The display dims every second darker or lighter.
5) If the device is rotated in tablet mode, the screen rotates with actually. This usually works boot right after, but once the mode has been changed times is also no longer possible. Then occurs also like the phenomenon on that you change from the notebook mode to tablet mode, so the device snaps shut, the external touch display will activate, but unfortunately rotated by 180 °. The only solution is to restart.
6) Less important, but still worth mentioning is that the fan passes through and is quietly audible, even in unused condition.
I had before this unit twice the 11-inch version with a i7. If the Wi-Fi did not work in the other there were the problems 1-3 described above.
Good solution is the entire structure of the device. It is easy, acting wertig fact that hardly plastic is used and has a nice pocket with pen case. The built-in Bang & Olufsen speakers are surprisingly good for such a thin device.
The standard software Super-touch is very good, you can write with the stylus and draw well. You can turn off the hand detection and thus hang when writing hand.
Conclusion: would work, the basic function of the screen switching, this would be a top unit. Since this is not the case, I'm sending this back over 1000 expensive Taichi.
I find it an impudence of Asus that a device is placed on the market that so fundamentally does not work and therefore is in its overall function unusable. As far as I can tell the software Asus Close Lid is responsible for changing functions and is absolutely immature.
A constant question is whether other users are using the device not as intense to notice these problems, or if I had bad luck three times ...
